After scoring points against Texas Gov. Rick Perry in last night’s Republican debate on the issue of Gardasil vaccinations, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann made a statement on the Fox News Channel that she was informed Gardasil caused one child’s mental retardation.
On his Tuesday radio show, Rush Limbaugh thought attacking Perry on that issue was ill-advised but admitted Perry had “goofed up” with that executive order.
“Alright, Perry goofed up by using an executive order on the Gardasil,” Limbaugh said. “There’s no question he goofed up on it instead of taking it to the Texas legislature. He’s admitted that over and over again. I think one of the reasons that Perry gets tired is that he had all the questions. He had to answer a question three or four times last night and he did it smiling.”

Bachmann is an opportunist fully prepared to sling mud at Perry over social security from the LEFT’S talking points until Rush slapped her down. That isn’t my definition of a conservative.
As for Rush he’s the only “unelectable” consrvative I’d vote for this year not that he’ll run. My take is he favors Perry among the “electable” candidates (I think he still likes Newt best but Newt’s baggage is too heavy) but what he really favors is beating Obama and he hates that the Republicans are killing each other to the left’s delight which will result in all of their general election numbers being dragged on as long as this goes on. That’s why he keeps praising Newt for taking it to the moderators and Obama and refusing to engage the will of the moderator.
However he’s giving Perry fair warning about the illegal immigration thing. This isn’t 2000 when bush ran and it wasn’t a major issue. The thing is if Perry apologized it would come across as insincere, his record is too long. Doesn’t have a choice but to stick with it...and I think he believes it anyway. His best way of dealing with it would just be to say he’ll work to secure the border and every other policy he’ll work to find a majority consensus with the American people on. Basically make a promise he won’t go off on his own and try to implement an unpopular policy on this issue the way Bush tried in 2006. That’s the only avenue he has there.
Smart move regarding the chicken pox or any new vaccine, where by “new” I mean anything produced in the last 30 years. I know plenty of folks damaged by these things, and often for NO GOOD REASON. Come on, Hep B for ALL babies, not just those carried by prostitutes and IV drug abusers? That’s only for the $$$, not common sense.
Rush traveled clear to Texas to join in a “pep rally for Perry”. Rush said his “Dream Candidate” is “Rick Perry or anyone like him”.

Bachmann is really just bizarre. It’s really kind of sad that anyone would take her seriously.
You would think that was true but the fact of the matter is none of these candidates went after ROMNEY so ferociously when he was the frontrunner. Well, that may not be entirely accurate. A few of them may have but the nearest in the polls to him didn’t. Even Pawlenty only slung at him after the debate until shamed into doing it in person. I find it very interesting Bachmann the so called “Tea Party conservative” never behaved this way with Mitt.
The vaccine prevents cervical cancer and warts, in males and females. The cervical cancer diagnosis is pretty terrible.
Basically, this is a public health measure, like the polio vaccine.
Nobody pitched a bitch when the government insisted on polio vaccination.
It's the same situation here.
People should not be bashing Perry for supporting this measure; nor should they be amplifying and magnifying this pseudocontroversy in everyone's view (Rats and MSM alike) so as to make Perry look like a tyrant, which he is not.
Way to go GOP idiots, go ahead and scuttle yet another candidate.

I came out of the gates hoping Santorum could get a VP slot, but I saw him pandering and protecting Romney in the last three debates, and he has continued to swipe at Perry while leaving Romney alone outside the debates as well. That has made me think he has his eyes on a Romney win and has chosen that route.
I have felt there were two different "alliances" building up these last few weeks:
1. Romney, Pawlenty (saw that even in Iowa), Bachman, and Santorum, and
2. Perry, Cain, Newt, and Palin will be there if she joins the group.
Those betting on Romney or getting deals from him with a positive outcome believed are making their moves to defeat Perry. Unfortunate, I think Santorum has decided to hold onto Romney's coat tails. We'll see if that works out for him.

Except that’s not what’s happening. Perry has used the term “mistake” several times regarding this issue. Normal people don’t usually interpret “I made a mistake” as “justifying” the the act they now characterize as a “mistake.” But when folks decide to hate on a candidate, their interpretation of reality often becomes wondrously inventive.
Perhaps you just made a mistake in the above post and will come on line and concede that. Or perhaps you will be back to “justify” your claim. If you do one, you won’t be doing the other, will you?

Since the election is more than a year away, these debates provide the RATs with a heaven-sent opportunity to, as St. Saul sez, "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it, and destroy it".
By September of 2012, America's soon-to-be voters will be sick of these clowns, AND will have had a waterfall of propaganda, for MORE THAN A YEAR, pouring down on their heads.

The candidate should be introduced in late August. August, 2012, that is. No campaigning before then. No pledged delegates.
This farce gives the enemedia way too much prep time, and gains us nothing.
Bachmann was just on Hnnnity’s and said that if we don’t vet the candidates, the Dems will.
This actually might be very healthy, because if ANY of the Republicans can’t survive the primaries, they might not win in the General Election.
If Perry, in fact, believes the mandate was a mistake, then when exactly did he come to that realization? Perry today says that he saluted the decision of the legislature to reject his executive order. "Roger that, I hear you loud and clear," a now chastened Perry says, describing what he learned from getting "to far out in front of the parade." But that's simply not what happened.
When the mandate was rejected Perry held a press conference surrounded by women with cervical cancer and, complaining that the process was hijacked by politics and posturing, blamed future cervical cancer on the opponents of his mandate (Rick Perry's Gardasil Problem). He didn't listen to those opponents, representing the overwhelming majority will of the Texas public, and say "roger that". He did just the opposite and poked them with a finger to the eye.
And Rush doesn't seem to grasp that when Bachmann and Palin accuse Perry of crony capitalism they are not de facto accusing him of pay-for-play or bribery. Perry's former chief of staff was a lobbyist for Merck as was his chief of staff's mother-in-law. They were lobbying states to do what Perry did, mandate Gardasil as a required vaccine. That means big money flowing from taxpayers to Merck. The circumstances here are the utter definition of crony capitalism. Taxpayer money flowing directly to friends and supporters of those in government power.
That the mandate was ultimately killed doesn't change the fact that Perry made a patently dubious decision, based on sketchy science and without a genuine public debate, that on its face appears to reward his cronies with taxpayer monies. The appearance alone should have given Perry reason enough to back off.

There should be an Opt-IN. Why should it be the parents’ burden to go through govt. RED TAPE?
Yes, there are required immunizations, but should kids have to take every vaccine that comes along at the government’s whim?
Remember, even Perry apologized for this, so you are criticizing both Perry AND Bachmann, when you say that vaccines should be required.
While I like Bachmann more, there are a lot of things I like about Perry, too, but let’s not make it sound as if he’s perfect.

I did not watch the debate, but listened to Bachman on Rush this morning, re Gardasil. I was NOT impressed.
There is TONS of stuff to attack with Obama and his Chicago Thuggery/Marxism. Why oh why do the Republicans attack each other? I cannot stand that. Maybe in the final run-off, but at the beginning? They could state their positions, take on Obama, and have an absolute field day preparing for his demise. But NO.
