Palin takes aim at GOP presidential candidates
The Hill ^ | September 12, 2011 | Josh Lederman

Palin even went as far as to lend her voice to the charge leveled by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) during the debate against Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R): That he allowed a law to go though requiring HPV vaccinations for adolescent girls because of a $5,000 campaign donation and his relationship with his former chief of staff, who went on to lobby for a pharmaceutical company.

"I knew there was something to it," Palin said of learning while she was Alaska's governor that her Texas counterpart had given the go-ahead to the vaccine. "Now we're finding that now, yea, something was up with that issue. It was an illustration or bit of evidence of some crony capitalism."

Palin went to college for communications and journalism.

And that is what her "campaign" is all about. It's a numbers game....marketing!! She wants a media job....back to her roots!!

My son has the same degree so I can see it as she goes along and hear it in her voice.

Because of the shrinking, but still very vocal, number of people who have deluded themselves into thinking she'll run.

Oh, and so I guess all these breathless MSM reports I'm reading this morning on this board and elsewhere about Palin's comments are figments of my imagination?

And like "death panels" before, the discussion is now about "crony capitalism." I guess she didn't have anything to do with coining those words either...

That’s fine with me. Perry isn’t the one collecting a $1 million paycheck from FoxNews after quitting his job.

Prove it that “he sold himself”.

You cannot.

You can state unproven assertions all day. You cannot prove it.

So, who cares you prate endlessly on about “he sold himself for so little”.

The point makes itself.

Selling yourself means, you would have never, ever done the thing you did except for the fact someone paid you to do it.

Perry obviously thought this was the thing to do, and it is just as obvious that it is beyond stupidity to suppose that he did it because of a miniscule, miniscule campaign donation.

I can prove what I say.

Here’s the proof.

Perry was forced to drop the whole thing. People say it was the legislature...no, the people of Texas contacted their reps and demanded they stop it. It was a huge embarrassment then for Perry and it remains a huge embarrassment for him today. If Perry had only known...if he had only been able to predict that he would suffer this rebuke and embarrassment from his own citizens, he would have never done this in the first place. If only he could have it back, now. If only, but he can’t. He can only say, I was wrong.

Which is unassailable truth, that Rick Perry was not bought into doing this by Merck, but did it because he thought it was the correct thing to do and that the people would not object to it but would welcome this addition to the school vaccine program.

Again, repetition is how we learn. That Perry would never have done this if he had realized the people would rise up against it, proves he thought it was right and would be approved by the people.

Which proves he was not ruled in his head by Merck and a teeny tiny nothing of a campaign donation, but ruled in his head by his own lights of what he thought was right and how he thought the people would receive it.

He was wrong. He says so. Put down the club and stop clubbing.

Or, keep right on clubbing and making stuff up, and reveal yourself for what is making YOU tick.

Any time a politician takes a donation from a business donor it could be considered Crony Capitalism. Sarah Palin took $20,000 in donations from oil companies. Michelle Bachmann herself has accepted contributions from pharmaceutical companies. So for you to say its just Perry is simply wrong. In order to win we need a candidate that appeals to a majority, Bachmann is not that person. I will take my chances with Perry.

That’s bull crap. SHE DID NOT put in place any policy regarding Gardisil, the Federal Gov’t. did. Her policy was we WILL NOT interfere with Parental rights and make it mandatory.

Considering your Conservative credentials, that lie surprised me.

I hate to have to stick up for Perry as I’m undecided about him and have been an ardent Bachmann supporter but I seriously doubt a $5,000 campaign contribution motivated Perry to pen an executive order. He has repeatedly stated that he made a mistake trying to do something good and he would do it differently if he had to do it again. I take him at his word on that one.

I notice the rabid attacks by Palin supporters on everyone who dares to dissent about her supernatural political powers is starting to diminish. I’m wondering what date on the calendar will be the date of no return for Sarah Palin getting into the presidential race and maybe even standing up to the heat in one debate with the rest of the actual contenders.

"Balancing parental rights"? Are you kidding me? Why not give parents the right to "opt in" for vaccinations? Your way of thinking is 180 degrees backwards from the conservative perspective.

I’m just an anti-nutcase conservative

Yeah, there's another word for that, and it starts with "nutcase" and ends with "liberal".

And so? Your point is? People shouldn't collect paychecks? Shouldn't try to make as much money as they wish? Really, what the heck is your point?

If there was ever any doubt of this, last night's shameful attack on Rick Perry, in which Palin lied and misrepresented the Texas legislation, should confirm this reality to all but the most deluded Palinbots.

But I thought that you and your Perry pals said that she wasn't going to run and instead was going to endorse and campaign for him?

Oh, the irony!

Instead of taking aim, she should cowboy up and join in. Sitting it out is just not genius to me like her zealot fanbase here thinks.

She is not Ronald Reagan, she does not have the instant frontrunner status he has though she of course has a very loud and determined fan base...and is a helluva speech giver...but giving speeches ain’t debating

course winning debates isn’t winning either, would anyone here wish to debate Newt..he’s like a machine..he’s as good as Cheney with the instant recall thing

I just don’t get it...Iowa is February 6th..and some state is likely to jump up to January.

Sarah is running out of shelf life...maybe two-three more weeks.

Is this a plan to attack the candidates and then hope to announce and just steamroll in? Maybe so.

She can speak very well and it’s a siren song usually for social conservatives. It’s hard to say.

man...heads will spin here like never ever before if she sits it out...there will be excusues for a) she doesn’t run, b) she does but fails to nab nomination or c) she gets nomination but loses general

my gut feeling is we here don’t live in reality about this

Pssst... she has a plan... you are watching it unfold... and the sweet part... there is nothing that you can do to stop her plan.

Wow. If I were teaching a journalism or English course I'd use this sentence as an example of how to inject as much of one's vitriol and agenda as possible into one sentence.

“I would bet dollars to donuts that she and Gov. Perry have already spoken and each understands and respects the others’ position. Make no mistake about it, Gov. Palin and Gov. Perry like and admire each other.” This would be the ideal scenario, and I would prefer it over the alternative. At this point there’s no way of knowing. It does seem plausible that Perry could be vp on a Palin ticket.

I saw the interview and the way I read and the interview transcript will bear this out , Palin basically called Perry a crook, that he pushed the immunization issue because a former staffer was now employed at Merck and it was a Old Boys Club type deal. A fairly scurrilous charge and meant to attack ones character. I think Palin is setting the stage perfectly for her coming in. She is not playing Marcus of Queensbury rules and I admire her for it. Sorry Perry\Mitts supporters are being driven crazy by playing coy, but she is being crazy like a fox here. She will get in when she is good and ready and some of you will see the brilliance in it. Reagan would be proud, Perry right now has to be flumuxxed, Sarah is chopping down her rivals like Rocky in Rocky IV.

Gee... that is what Putin says about his political opponents.

actually most of the anti Palin folks here are men or younger women

FR’s resident cat lady contingent..our most acclaimed...is the biggest block of the Palin group

so biddies is a bit off

I can’t tell whose worse...the Palin nutjobs or the anti-Palin nutjobs

it changes

but this nomination will be determined not by zealots for anyone..it will come down to who gets the big Mo thru March...the odds of a brokered convention are low

if she sits it out, it will be Romney or Perry...and you can remind me is I’m wrong...neither are my first picks either

“Why does she need to get or get out? Is this not America, where we have freedom and freedom of speech?”

She has all the freedom in the world.

However, the next President of the United States, the one we elect in November 2012, is already in the ring, doing the hard work of showing whether he or she can lead us.

We had many qualified candidates on stage last night. Palin agrees with that. One of them will be our candidate.
