"Out of every dollar that I earn, how much do you think that I should be allowed to keep?" asked a young man at the GOP debate last night. This was arguably the best question of the night and a good politician would have won a lot of points for a personal answer.
"I love that question!" Michele Bachmann exclaimed, but she did not get an opportunity to address it.
Sadly, debate moderator Wolf Blitzer pitched this question to Jon Huntsman, who rambled on about his economic plan and the enormous national debt. Wrapping up his answer, Huntsman condescendingly lectured the man and his generation telling them to get involved in the 2012 election.
Watch below:

That is the type of BS answer that has screwed the pooch in our country for far too long. Remember his answer for voting purposes.
It would be great if that same question could be asked again in the next debate.
;-)
I can’t watch that video again. Why Wolf gave that one to Huntsman and no others really ticked me off.
I would have LOVED to hear Bachman, Cain and Gingrich’s answers. I hope they all put out their own answers on that question today.
That is probably the most important question. How much of your life is actually yours?
One thing I noticed is they spent a lot of time not actually answering the question asked. If I wanted weasel answers, I’d watch Obama. I only got to watch portions, so maybe they did better when I wasn’t looking.
If you are 100 % on the dole, you do exactly as you please.
Why do Republicans agree to let lefties moderate their debates? Is it that they have no choice?
To me, some of the answers given seemed to project individuals asperations to be vice presidents as they know their day in the mainstream candidate’s field is closing.
CNN’s mission last night was to take out Perry on three fronts, social security, illegal aliens and that stupid vaccine idea. On the first they did not succeed as well as they did on the next two. Romney is their candidate and they used the Tea Parties to take out Perry. That is how I saw it.
Perry was his own worst enemy. He was for strong border protection before he was against it, only he’s for it now, but not anything physical like a fence, but illegals should be allowed to get in-state tuition, but he’s really strong on the border issue...come on.
And the Gardisil thing...he did that to himself 100%. Santorum was right—why wasn’t there an “opt-in”? Why was this such a tremendous emergency that he didn’t wait for the state legislature? Was Gardisil illegal in TX before Perry’s order? Were girls 12-13 years of age dropping dead left and right until he sprang into action? That mentality along with Romney and his Obamacare-Lite plan really do prove Bachmann’s point that neither are going to be serious about taking out Obamacare. They want to control you as much as any other leftist.
I was impressed by Perry in the last debate. This one...I don’t know. He’s all over the map on some VERY important issues.
They're politicians. They NEVER directly answer a question. It's always "I think the real question is...." or, "The fact of the matter is...."
They should all be wired up & when they start rambling, just give 'em a jolt and say "please answer the question that was just asked."
BEST question...EVER!! Needs to be asked again and again again!!
I remember an old TV show called “Sliders”. Hour heros would “slide” into alternate universers and land in an alternate US.
In one episode they landed in modern San Francisco in a world where there had been no revolutionary war and we were still a British colony. The main change was that we paid a whopping income tax rate of 70%.
But is it so “whopping”? If you add the various business taxes and fees rolled into the price on the things you buy, the fees, the sales tax, and the income tax, I think that might actually be pretty close to what we pay today in THIS world.
I Ike the idea of juicing them to get them to answer the question. But seriously. Why watch the debate if it’s mostly campaign speeches. Answer the blinking questions and debate it.
The author didn’t present his own answer, if he has one.
The author didn’t present his own answer, if he has one.
Please tell me why the Republicans are bent on doing this to themselves?
Absolutely, lets put this question to all candidates for President. But lets get specific: Ask for the actual percentage of my dollar. Then let former Secret Service agents comment on the truth of the answers.
