Good for you Sarah.
Perry needs to come out with a Social Security Fix Proposal that alleviates fears of current recipients and probably anyone over 50. A good start would be increase age of eligibility, a “means” test and eliminate the Cap on earnings for social security contributions.
Social Security is a fraud and a scam. It was originally conceived as a welfare entitlement do enslave all future voters as DEMONrats. The amount you receive back after paying in hundreds of thousands if not millions in FICA is a pittance that wouldn’t feed a mouse and his family for a day. Best to stop it flat right now.
I would hardly think that “schooling” Perry is the same as “defending” him.
Who comes up with these headlines?
She said exactly that during her speech in Iowa AND in NH before the debate. I think most, if not all the flak being directed at perry for what he said about SS is pure political pandering to a whole constituency that has learned better in the past few years. Most people in the over 50 age brackets didn’t get that old being stupid.
I hope Perry doubles-down on his Socialist Security is a Ponzi scheme declaration.
He should start by asking how many of his fellow candidates are currently participating in Socialist Security.
He may not be participating himself. I don't know. But it will at least give him the high ground of honesty on the subject.
Which is the better ticket? Perry/Palin or Romney/Pawlenty?
Just a matter of time before Palin endorses Perry, then it’s all over for Romney and we can concentrate on the general.
Other than a horrible immigration report card, Perry is not a very good speaker. I am judging from the debate.
I will admit I haven’t heard him speak a great deal.
GWB was far more eloquent. At least GWB seemed to know what he was going to say and then deliver it. He got that word xenophobe out of his mouth in record time. LOL
Palin, meanwhile is a good woman ... and Presidential material.
Trust me ... Read her books.
The headline on Drudge says this am that Perry is sticking to his guns.
For those of us who have followed Perry for a long time, this is playing out predictably and well: Perry is digging his heels in and in this, he is not going to be swayed. This is EXACTLY what he did on tort reform way back in 2003, when Texas was the lawsuit capital of the world. (A lot of freepers don’t fully appreciate the importance of that issue...and Perry, along with others, but Perry was important, made it sort of a non-issue and this was after decades of domination of Texas by liberal plaintiff’s lawyers).
Yes, before all the border crowd chimes in here, we understand that Perry is not good on the border. Understood.
But the fiscal health of the country needs some serious attention, and SS reform is a piece of that. And Perry is now showing that he has some backbone and he is not going to back down from this fight. What will his reform plan look like? Hard to say...but he is openly identifying the problem, and he’s not going to back down from that and that is a good thing.
How much does it cost tax payers to ‘run’ the social security administration? I have tried to locate the number but cannot find it.
I am not convinced anyone has a handle on how to ‘reform’ this agency because it is ‘too’ big to fail. I cannot find the number of employees that are currently working for the SS administration, but there are 10 regional offices plus many field offices.
I do not oppose reforming the system, but it is the ‘system’ bottom up, that needs the overhauling. And soundbites from politicians are not going to get US anywhere. Unless or until elected politicians are outlawed from dipping into the money pot the system will never get fixed.
Sarah sides with Perry.
Good for her.
Thank you Sarah.
I find it funny when Perry supporters say Palin’s gonna endorse Perry or be his VP. She hasn’t decided whether to run or not and you are already courting her endorsement. Talk about power.
Here’s an idea that we could make part of Social Security reform:
At regular intervals such as monthly, acturial, financial and census inputs will be crunched and out will pop a set of results, one for each age group at calculation time. Each citizen will combine nis result with his earnings history to get his projected benefit.
By doing this each of us would know what to expect from the Social Security program.
I read that article quite a few days ago, NM must have re printed it with a new date?
At any rate they are for Perry so no thing surprising here.
I watched Sarah on Fox live as she said it, taking every word she said, Perry should not be flattered.
