Remembering Rick Rescorla: a hero on 9/11

Thanks for posting. Every year about this time, I switch to doing not much else besides posting and reminding folks of who Rick Rescorla was.

As I've heard said about other soldiers, let's not mourn his loss, but be thankful such men were born.

And they would have killed me and a whole lot of my friends, who never did anything to harm you or yours. There ARE true public servants in DC, few and far between, maybe, but they exist. They (we, on 9/11/01) are human beings who did not, do not, deserve to die horrible deaths at the hands of terrorists.

The US Constitution and the freedoms it protects give you the ability, the responsibility, to replace your representatives if they do not meet your standards. You do yourself a grievous dishonor if you wish death on your own countrymen.

I can see part of his point. If it had been hundreds of congressmen and Senators that were killed that day do you think that would not have changed the way things were done in congress? Would they be so sanguine about immigration and PC about their duty to this country? I think the changes would have been immediate and long lasting, right now they only pay lip service to our Dead. If some of them had died we would be having a National Month of prayer and reflection.

Thank you for remembering, for writing and for posting this here at FR. Did you happen to see the portion of the “reading of the names” at Ground Zero on the morning of 9/11/2011, when Rick’s daughter honored his memory? I was glad I caught that moment. Instead of seeming sad, she seemed proud:).

Saving many lives back then in that battle I personally witnessed, RICK RESCORLA went on to save 2,700 more lives on 9/11, before selflessly sacrificing his own that infamous morning. Last night the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano presented his 9/11 Widow Susan and Son with the DHS ..Distinguished Public Service Medal.. Posthumously.
