When I explained to him that a longer school day should not be used for warehousing or babysitting our youth he exploded, used profanity, pointed his finger in my face and yelled. At that point the conversation was over soon thereafter we found ourselves subject to a full-scale propaganda war over a moot point.

When I explained to him that a longer school day should not be used for warehousing or babysitting our youth he said, "Don't be absurd! That's the only reason taxpayers are supporting your ghastly institution!"
(I made that up.)

Why do I want to believe Rahm actually thought that.
Hey, that's because as crazy as he is (certifiably so) he's still smarter and more rational than the thugs and criminals who work for him.
He thought he wanted that job too!

I detect a bit of hostility from most of Obama's pals.

So, what’s the problem? It’s one leftist swearing at another leftist. File a complaint with your leftist union sob sister. See if she cares.
To: Winstons Julia
LOL
The collapse of the union kingdom is imminent.

Rahm needs a little schoolyard bullying. In other words, somebody needs to punch his lights out -— literally.
I speak from the vantage point of a former youthful smart-ass who pushed someone a little too far one time. I got an instant attitude adjustment that lasted the rest of my life.

Doesn't mean that it isn't true. As a teacher I know full well that our primary purpose is to keep kids out of the house while both parents work and our secondary purpose is to keep kids off of the streets while both parents work.
Mom has to work to pay the taxes for the social ills caused by moms working, you know.

Doesn't mean that it isn't true. Rahm's quite a loose cannon - he might have said it, if he'd had a few drinks at lunch.
I'm often taken aback by people's carrying on when their children are off school ... and not all of them have jobs, either. "Free at last, free at last!" one woman said at a church meeting the other night, and all I could think was, "What did your child do to make you dislike her so much ... and does she know that's how you feel? Great job, mom!"
