Rick Perry: "The Promises and Platitudes' Aren't Going To Cut It"
ABC News ^ | 09/08/2011 | Michael Falcone

Mr. President, we cannot spend our way to prosperity, it does not work.”

Perry said he has a “record of change” whereas Obama only offers “the rhetoric of change.” Though he spent most of his brief remarks assailing the president, Perry vowed to continue to contrast himself with his GOP rivals too.

Perry, who mixed it up at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Wednesday night with the other Republican presidential hopefuls, particularly Mitt Romney, acknowledged that “we’ve got our differences.”

“We’ll talk about them,” Perry said, adding “hopefully in a very respectful way.”

“I stood on the stage last night with seven other very, very fine and great Americans and every one of them would better than what we have in the White House today,” Perry told the crowd, “any one of them.”

Few in the crowd seemed to be concerned about Perry’s use of the term “Ponzi scheme” to describe Social Security despite the criticism he has been drawing even from other Republicans. (Perry did not use that phrase on Thursday.) In fact, some of his supporters appeared to be embracing “Ponzi scheme” as a rallying cry. Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson, a Perry backer, who spoke ahead of the governor, praised Perry’s use of “provocative language.”

And Micki Blair, a teacher from nearby Corona, Calif. who said she was leaning toward Perry in the primary, agreed.

“I don’t think his rhetoric is too strong,” she said. “I think that people are mature, have a brain. They can figure out that if you don’t put enough in, you can’t pass it all out. It just doesn’t work that way.”

Perry will remain in California through the end of the week. He has a full schedule of fundraising events in Southern and Central California and the Bay Area.

Picking on Liberal Maryland in response to my Perry factual comment??? , AHHH that hurts....LOL

In spite of the Maryland Republican party being a RINO party they still organized and got signatures to put a initiative on the ballot to REPEAL the recently passed (by Democrats) DREAM ACT that gives Maryland state tuition subsidies to illegals going to college, something Perry has always defended in Texas. That makes me suspicious of Perry.

Back on the subject of Maryland, you forgot the three black girls beating up of a white 'transgender' male who was using a ladies room in Baltimore/Rosedale McDonalds and then cam cording it and up loading it to youtube, then got convicted of a 'hate crime'.

(Beware of PaulBots tearing down good conservatives - they are deceptive weasles.)

I love your tagline. And I really wonder how PaulBots live with themselves knowing that their Dear Leader called for direct physical harm to come to American Military personnel serving in foreign lands.

How can someone still be a PaulBot after that?

Perry is not afraid to rip into 0bama.
Unlike McCain, who spent the entire 2008 campaign praising Obama and severely criticizing anyone who said anything "mean spirited" about The Magic Negro.

RE :”Interesting that you post that picture in #44, because there are many Perry-haters in FR who are exactly like those 2 guys in the foreground of that picture. Exactly like them. That’s the exact “argument style” of many of the anti-Perry posters in FR.

Interesting??? 'Perry-haters'??, 'Palin-hater's? ,'Bachmann-haters'???, what do you all just want a immediate coronation of your favorite?

How can Perry claim to be against amnesty when he is for taxpayers sending the same illegals to college?
Do you have a real response to 44?

RE :"Wrongo...they get the cost of in state tuition...they pay for the tuition themselves not Texans.

That is a tuition discount for illegals that legal residents of other states cant get when sending their kids to Texas for college.

Why send illegals to college anyway? What is your rationale?

O’Rly. This is the same guy who wasn't going to attend the debate because of the wildfires in his state?

On the other hand, I do agree with him on his Ponzi scheme comments.

No, I don’t want a coronation and I expect a vigorous debate on the candidates.

But many Perry-haters don’t EVER put forward anything like “I prefer ___ to Perry because ___”, but rather, they act JUST LIKE the two guys in the foreground in #44.

They jump on every single Perry thread and grab their own crotch and flip the bird to all other posters. It’s DU stuff. It’s Tempest all over again.

I didn’t name names. You are the one who copied all these other people.

Are YOU saying THEY are the ones I should be talking to?

(Four of the names on this list I was not thinking of when I mentioned #44. Two I was. But there are others you didn’t name.)

I agree that Sarah Palin is better on immigration than Perry is. I’m not sure she’s better on all the issues, but she’s better on that one.

In any event, I would definitely support Palin for President.

Perry/Palin, Palin/Perry, Perry, Palin... any order, any running mate.

Although I have criticized Palin on her support for McCain in 2010 (which I thought was over-the-top) I have NEVER attacked her. EVER.

I don’t feel the need to.

Why you and the other Perry-haters have such a vicious streak on the subject of Perry is honestly beyond me. Really, really beyond me.

I hate Ron Paul. But I don’t work 24/7 looking for Ron Paul threads to jump on and crap all over with Mexican-style graffiti.

I just don’t see the point of that.

No hate here I will vote for whomever is the nominee but for sure I have a preference.

I hope to fight for my candidate and then turn all attention to Obama and taking the Senate and many more House seats.

I will always try to “Keep It Classy.”

Hey Smarty Pants!

I was there to help you vote in Ehrlich.

And you got the ICC.

Now I’m back in Texas.

Seems I’m more constructive than you.

Perhaps if you LIBERAL States would STOP voting for the myriad of give-away social justice programs that have illegal immigrants (well not so much any more because Obama has killed our economy) flooding across the border where their lifestyles are subsidized by living on your get-em-hooked welfare which allows them to send their salaries money back home (well not so much anymore because Obama has killed our economy) that are filling up our schools and our emergency hospital rooms, it would help things here in a border state that shares a 1250 mile INTERNATIONAL border with Mexico that the Feds REFUSE to secure. Texans are spending (out of our state’s budget) about $100 million a year to try to do this ourselves.

As usual, Texas led the way (2001). We found it was better to educate illegal immigrant children (brought in by their parents) who, if they’d been in the Texas public schools for a least 3 years and graduated from a Texas H.S. (which we had no control as a state to block) -— to allow them to PAY in-state tuition as they apply for legal citizenship (this is not the U.S. Congress Dream Act) so they will support themselves and not continue being on the welfare system, the Federal nanny state imposed welfare condition.

Texas is a SOLID RED state, unlike Maryland, which is a SOLID BLUE state.

Well I dont hate Perry and I been accused of hating some of the others for specific criticism of them too. There is one Republicans figure you cant say anything about without being accused of being a 'hater'.

It's called a election. Democrats are learning the hard way the price of coronation of a single candidate without vetting.

Sarah Palin was never in charge of a border state.
