Rasmussen: Obama Now Underdog For Re-election
newsmax ^ | SEPTEMBER 07, 2011 | Jim Meyers and Kathleen Walter

Posted on 09/08/2011 11:42:43 AM PDT by RobinMasters

Independent pollster and political analyst Scott Rasmussen tells Newsmax that Wednesday night’s GOP debate was “rockier” than expected for leading candidate Rick Perry, and says his stance on the Social Security issue could be the “chink in the armor” of his campaign.

But Rasmussen asserts that the Texas governor right now has all the “excitement and charisma” in the Republican race and could prove difficult to beat, while leading challenger Mitt Romney is an “awkward position.” And Rasmussen believes that President Obama would be the underdog in a head-to-head race against any of the leading GOP candidates.

Rasmussen is founder and president of Rasmussen Reports and co-founder of the sports network ESPN. He has been an independent public opinion pollster for over a decade, and most major news organizations cite his reports.

He is also the co-author of “Mad As Hell: How the Tea Party Movement Is Fundamentally Remaking Our Two-Party System.”

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, Rasmussen gives his assessment of Perry’s performance in the debate.

“It was a little rockier than he might have liked. Overall Rick Perry came in with very high expectations because he’s the front-runner, and as he said at one point during the debate he felt like a piñata because everyone was gunning for him. But he did fairly well overall.”

. . . challenger Mitt Romney is an “awkward position.”

The only awkward position for the far left Mitt from MA would be as our nominee - THAT would be awkward. Otherwise, I'm comfortable with anyplace Romney might want to go that doesn't give him power over my life.

There is a large number of Freepers whose heads are now exploding.

Remember the new FR de-facto rules:
1. Only “my” candidate is a True Conservative
2. All other candidates and their supporters are RINOs
3. If you CRITICIZE (or negative comment on) “my” candidate, you are a romney-supporting, libtard, leftist DU commie troll

Just read that the Solynda, the bankrupt solar cell maker, made 20 trips to the White Hut before they cashed in on the Porkulu$. A nice scandal like this should send Obama’s numbers down even further.

"Rasmussen is founder and president of Rasmussen Reports and co-founder of the sports network ESPN."

I didn't know Rasmussen was a co-founder of ESPN. Does that mean he had a hand in hiring Keith Olberman? I hope not, I like Scott and wouldn't want to think poorly of him.

Now that I consider the republican party to be only slightly less socialist than the democratic party, I consider the TRUE conservative republicans to be the RINOs, strictly adhering to the meaning of the acronym.

RINOs like Palin are good.

Romney is not a RINO. He is a mainline republican.

“A nice scandal like this should send Obama’s numbers down even further.”

Give the commie left their due, they’ve made such a thing as informing Americans about that impossible.

Pravda surely won’t touch the story.

Fox may report, but the left has successfully cast Fox in the same mold as Weekly World News in the minds of the lefties, and even moderates. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard a Democrat say: “Where’d you hear that? Faux News?!”

He and his dad started the network in 1979 and I believe they sold it to Walt Disney INC in the 80s at some point.

Contrary to NBC set up questions and created cicular firing squad........

Contrary to MittBots out there on Fox News spinning for Romney...

Perry withstood the assault and he will come away with more conservative support after his tough stands on..

Ponzi scheme reality
Capital Punishment
anti Global Warming

He many come away with more support after next polling.

If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one nearby to hear it is there any sound? I doubt the solar company bankruptcy will even register with the sheeple because it will be give as much play in the mainstream media as the government’s gunrunning on the southern border. Scandals need continuous and relentless news coverage day after day to register with the American people. No way the mainstream press is going to pound away on this issue.

I hope your right :)

But either way I still believe he will maintain the lead and that he has withstood their strongest attacks and emerged nearly unscathed. The rest of the debates will be a cakewalk compared to this cluster*&^%

I remember watching ESPN back about 1979. The programming then was much different. It was mostly kick boxing and other strange sports.

The landslide that sweeps away Obama and the demonRATs in Congress will be even more historic than the last, mid-term, election. We can only benefit from more conservatives in Congress.

Perry shouldn’t be shy about addressing SS- it needs to be done. Everyone (and I DO mean everyone) knows that SS won’t change for those who are on it now. although it would be wise to means test.
