Did you know that one theory behind the origin of the word, "Gringo" is based on a "color song"? According to legend, during the Mexican-American war, a popular song among US soldiers was "Green Grow The Lilacs". The Spanish speaking Mexicans took to referring to the Americans as "GreenGrows" which, over time, was shortened to "Gringos". :-)

Joe, someone very special to me lives across the Big Blue Pond - and this song by ENYA (If I Could Be Where You Are), says it very well:

This music by ENYA is one of her best - EVER!

I think my very favorite Enya piece is Fallen Embers. It has a lot of very personal meaning to me...although she has many, many incredible songs.

Wow - the gallaxy graphics are incredible! And they work perfectly with the words of the song, “Fallen Embers”.

Thank you for introducing me to that one, Joe!

I LOVE Enya!

My favorite "separated from a loved one song" is from the Blackhawk Down soundtrack. It's written and sung in the Breton language and titled Gortoz A Ran (I'm Waiting).

The vocals by Denez Pigent and Lisa Gerrard are simply some of the most soulful and heartfelt I've ever heard in any language. An English translation of the lyrics can be found here, although the sheer power of the expression in their voices makes the actual translation of the lyrics virtually unnecessary :-)
