Teamsters chief says unions didn't start 'war' with Tea Party, battles with conservative media By Alicia M. Cohn - 09/06/11 04:41 PM ET

Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa maintained Tuesday that union workers are at "war" with Tea Party-affiliated politicians, but insisted he wasn't inciting violence.

Hoffa stood by remarks he made over the weekend at a Labor Day rally in Detroit at which he called for workers to “take these son-of-a-bitches out” in 2012.

"I will never apologize for standing up for my fellow Teamsters and all American workers," Hoffa said in a press release Tuesday.

Hoffa also accused what he called "anti-worker media," including Fox News Channel and the website Drudge Report, of editing the clip of his speech to make it appear he was "inciting violence against members of Tea Party organizations."

“We didn’t start this war — the right wing did. My comments on Labor Day in Detroit echo the anger and frustration of American workers who are under attack by corporate-funded politicians who want to destroy the middle class,” Hoffa said. The remarks were "referring to voting out Tea Party politicians in 2012," according to the release.

“We’re fighting back. That’s what Teamsters do — we stand up for what is right,” Hoffa said.

Tea Party organizations condemned Hoffa's remarks on Tuesday. Tea Party Caucus Chairwoman and presidential contender Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) condemned what she called Hoffa’s “violent rhetoric."

White House press secretary Jay Carney said that although Hoffa's remarks were made in advance of President Obama's speech at the same event, Obama did not hear Hoffa speak. "The president wasn't there. I mean, he wasn't onstage. He didn't speak for another 20 minutes," Carney said Tuesday in his briefing.

Fox News Channel host Gretchen Carlson confronted the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee on the topic Tuesday morning. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) downplayed the controversy as an issue of "language" in a move that Reince Priebus, her counterpart at the Republican National Committee, labeled "hypocrisy."

Take your Teamster’s union and all of it’s members and shove yourselves up Obama’s smelly Obama.

Oh, forgot, you’re already there.

You’re so foul, I’ll even buy Chinese rather than support you slimeballs.

When it comes to a guy whose old man was a convicted criminal and involved in organized crime (by reputation a made man according to Union Corse tradition) you have to look at what he says ~ not just the verbal context.

James P. Hoffa's life suggests the only important part of what he said was to THREATEN TO MURDER TEA Party members.

Folks who don't understand that might understand "fluffy bunnies fluffy bunnies cut out your mother's heart unicorns" ~ the "fluffy bunnies" part and the "unicorns" DO NOT COUNT when the speaker oozes out of the Mafia mud.

Oops. This backfired on the unions. Visions of union thugs breaking legs and bashing skulls popped into the minds of a lot of Americans.
If this keeps going, and I hope it does, we may find little Jimmy spending a lot more time with his dad.

Time for another investigation into the Teamsters Union and the Mafia. Hoffa Jr.s stepbrother was reportedly “mobbed up” with the Chicago Mafia. Reportedly ran a medical billing scam through a doctor(s) in Florida, aided by a corrupt chief of police down there.

However, you can’t count on Holder’s DOJ to investigate Hoffa, labor violence, CAIR, or Bill Ayers. You don’t investigate your friends, n’est pas?

The DNC are the biggest hypocrites on the planet. These are the same buffoons who made such a big fuss about some crosshairs on a map that Sarah Palin made, calling her a co-conspirator to murder..yet this Hoffa character goes on TV and issues a specific threat and its “No big deal, let’s move on” coming from the DNC. What a bunch of hypocrite bastards these people are

For years, the Dems and the Unions and all the little clubs that the Dems "owned"...like NOW, AARP have been sufficient to bring in the votes.

FINALLY....The Tea Parties have brought some balance to the equation.

You’re so foul, I’ll even buy Chinese rather than support you slimeballs.

"Watch for the union label" has become a badge of disgrace. Too bad so many good people are stuck working around and supporting these thugs.
I hope people start calling their representatives and demanding right to work legislation. Too many normal people are being taken advantage of. By now, they should be screaming to get out. If they don't, they're going to lose their jobs anyway when the union destroys the company or organization they work for.

The postal Service pays the union members 80% of everything it earns in wages and promised freebies. No business can survive that. That's why they're going under. That's a lot of jobs being lost because the union thugs deceived their members in exchange for union dues. (Those union leaders got mansions and yachts to pay for!)

Hilarious. My ex is still a huge Hoffa supporter, although he hasn’t held a union job in 10 years. When I married him 30 years ago he worked for a company called Wilson Freight. Didn’t take long for the parasite to kill that company. He then went to Consolidated Freightways. It also died a slow miserable death from the parasite. All along he thought that it was a joke that I worked for a non-union company making less. I still have my job.

“...frustration of American workers who are under attack by corporate-funded politicians who want to destroy the middle class,”

If Hoffa really is concerned about the middle class and is at war with corporate funded politicians, he would be supporting Sarah Palin for president. He is not, he is the worst of those supporting corporate/government funded corruption.
