The commander of Israel's Home Front issued a stark warning on Monday that the Middle East is headed for a full-scale, multi-front war that would see the use of weapons of mass destruction.
"After the Arab Spring, we predict that a winter of radical Islam will arrive," Major-General Eyal Eisenberg told a press conference in Tel Aviv.
"As a result the possibility for a multi-front war has increased, including the potential use of weapons of mass destruction."
But yesterday Israel's Defence Minister Ehud Barak did his best to discredit General Eisenberg's dramatic prediction.
While touring the Syrian border in Israel's north he said he could see no reason for Israel's adversaries to launch a large-scale conflict. "I am also convinced that none of our enemies will dare use chemical weapons against Israel, not now and not in the future," he added.
General Eisenberg himself took to Israeli army radio to explain that his comments had been taken out of context. He maintained, however, that the threat of a Middle Eastern conflict was increasing and pointed to strained relations between Israel and Turkey as a cause of further instability.

Sadly, I don’t doubt this a bit.
One side’s clerics are looking for the 12th Imam any day while the other sides are talking about Ezekiel 39.
I’d say things are going to come to a boil. And it could happen quite literally any day, or five years from now.
You really have to wonder why Ehud Barak is Defense Minister under a supposedly conservative government.
His main interest seems to be persecuting Jewish settlers.
I would say that Major-General Eyal Eisenberg's assessment of the dire situation is right on, despite what Israel's "Bagdad Bob", "nothing to see here, move along, move along", Defense Minister Ehud Barak had to say.
The headline seems quite out of touch with what was said.... it’s a long way from saying a threat is increasing to “war is imminent”.....
Israel always exists on a powder keg, dealing with near constant terrorist attacks and regional military threats. However, I don’t know of any reason to expect a general multi-front war in the next few months or within a year, which is what “imminent” would seem to imply.
I call Israel’s response “Operation 10th Plague”.

A couple of weekends ago there were multiple sources sayging that the Israelis were studying their war plans.
The Palistinian have increased rocket attacks from Gaza and the Wst bank.
Somebody better start paying attention or the Mid East is going to blow.
Could be that both sides are right here, which is what I suspect. Islam's 12th Madhi will appear (also know to us as "Anti-Christ") and Israel will see Eze. 38-39 come to pass. There's also that bit about Damascus becoming a desolate heap over in Isaiah 17 that people need to bear in mind. I don't know when it will start up, but I'd say you're right when you said it could be today or five years from now. The fuse is primed and it's a short fuse.

This new control will be worse than the power hungry dictators who were toppled in the name of freedom. The Arab world will unite against His people, quickly, now. Remember that each one will be assassinated through the plotting of the Evil Group – the sub cultural organizations that rule in all nations though you cannot see them because they are cowards. But not for long will they hide. When control is in their grasp they will strive for your attention and demand respect.

On a side note, the stuff in Dune pulled from islam is certainly percolating to the surface for me. It is the first place I read the word “jihad” and lets be frank, Maudib and Madhi are pretty darned close, and both prophetic “saviors” of a sort.

Maybe Israel should do everything possible to forestall such a conflict until the rag head in chief of the USA is removed from office.
I would think Israel would want the support of the USA and they sure as hell are not going to get it with our mudslime president in the Oval Office.
Maybe they can even convince some Americans in the Jewish community to forego their love of Marxism over loyalty to country and their own religion.
Here's a scary thought. What if Israel is afraid that Obama will be reelected? I mean, here on FR we're furious with the Obamanation but there's still a large portion of the population who depend on him for their hand-outs. I hope and pray that we're able to eject him, but Israel may not feel that they have the luxury of risking his reelection.

It seems to me that some Israeli video game designer could really rattle the cage in the Middle East, by making an animation showing several nuclear war scenarios, all of which result in the annihilation of broad swaths of the Muslim world and no harm to Israel or the US.
It would be the furthest thing from official, but would be very, very clear of what can result from such belligerence.
The first animation shows Iran launching a few nuclear missiles, at the order of Khamenei, made clear that they are indeed nuclear, at Israel. They are intercepted by the Israeli Iron Dome system anti-ballistic missiles.
Then Israel does a massive, nuclear retaliation at Iran. The video must include extremely graphic depictions of Tehran in ruins with vast numbers of Iranian corpses. Lots of scenes depicting the largest of the Shiite holy sites in ruins. Then show vast numbers of radiation poisoned and dying Iranians, many with severe burns, blindness and disease.
As the icing on the cake, show the Iranian ambassador to the UN screaming the lie that Israel attacked Iran first, though it is obvious that no other delegate believes him, before he breaks down and cries that Iran is no more, that the Iranian people are extinct, that the 12th Imam did not come, and that Muslims are cursed before Allah.
I’m sure such a video would be a huge hit in Iran, with tens of thousands of Persian language copies freely distributed. The Israeli government would probably officially throw a fit, just not do anything.
