The Slandering Of The American Conservative Movement Has Begun

The Slandering Of The American Conservative Movement Has Begun Tim Stanley September 5th, 2011

The slandering of the conservative movement has begun. For the past month, American newspapers have been awash with stories about the religion of various Republican presidential candidates. Michele Bachmann was portrayed in the New Yorker as a fanatical wingnut. Like Rick Perry, she has been labelled a follower of Dominionism – the belief that God gave Christians authority over all the Earth.

Writing for the Daily Beast, Michelle Golberg compared Dominionism to fundamentalist Islam and warned that the GOP was engaged in an “all-out assault” on the separation of church and state. This Sunday, the liberal economist Paul Krugman’s grand thesis that the Republicans are now the “anti-science” party was republished in The Observer. By questioning evolution and global warming, Krugman says, the GOP has lost its right to rule.

Krugman’s article is a good example of what’s wrong with this hogwash reporting. It is true that Rick Perry called evolution “just a theory”, but who cares? He’s running to be President of the United States, not an eighth grade biology teacher. He will have no influence over what textbooks schools buy or what is taught in classrooms. His views on evolution are as relevant to the presidential race as the price of petrol in Timbuktu. The fact that they are shared by millions of Americans has done nothing to dent the country’s advances in science and technology.

Nor are they any more irrational than the belief that Jesus walked on water or turned water into wine. Gospel stories are not only believed by many religious liberals, they are frequently quoted by Democratic presidential candidates. By the way, evolution is a theory. It is a theory constructed from individual scraps of evidence –

Hmmmm, I never knew it had stopped. Kind of like the 2nd recession. I never got the word we were out of the first recession.

The Conservatives have been slandered since McCarthy and Goldwater. This is nothing new, but the Leftists are getting more shrill.

The Slandering Of The American Conservative Movement Has Begun

The first time I noticed it was in 1960. That was when I was first old enough to remotely care.

It probably began long before then.

"The Slandering Of The American Conservative Movement Has Begun."

This article should have been written in 1980.

Good one. Here's what God's word has to say about it:

But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Galatians 4:29.

By questioning God, God says, the DNC has lost it's right to rule.

“Right to rule”? Where does Krugman think he’s living, Tsarist Russia?

Liberal progressives have taken over the democrat party. They have replaced the God of our constitution with government. They worship government, not God, and they actively attack every public representation of God. This is not the democratic party of our grandparents.

It is discouraging that so many people who profess Christianity vote for a party that stands against God. Allow a pastor to point this out from the pulpit and he will be attacked by government. However, a union boss never suffers from taking money from an employee and giving it to a cause or candidate that employee does not support.

Ironic.

Krugman would prefer Leninist Russia, and so would an increasing number of Democrats who are no longer "Democrats", really, but liberal fascists.

These people not only deny that there is any legitimacy to viewpoints other than their own, but that such opposing ideas are informed not by misunderstanding or ignorance, but by wicked - evil - intentions. As Conservatism is denied legitimacy and demonized, one begins to hear increasing calls for restrictions on political expression, beginning, but not ending with those of the Tea Party.

The Left is finally coming out of the closet, as I believe we will see in full force next year.

I don’t think the slander of modern american conservative movement is much older than that since it is a response to modern american liberalism. It cant be older than marxism, which dates to the 1880s. It cant be older than leninism, which dates to the early 1900s. It can’t be older than the communists revolutions in eastern europe of circa 1920. I would guess the modern american conservative moviement was born during the great depression when communism movements started sprouting up all over the world. That would put it in the 1930s. The open slander of the american conservative movement in the media would start some time after that since it would take time for the socialists/communists to infiltrate the media. Seems like some time AFTER WWII would be a good guess since during the war the media would be censored.

The Left: Upping the Anti-Christ into 2012 and Beyond

"...Rick Perry's theology -- whatever it is -- is not my theology, but I am confident that it is within the American mainstream. On the other hand, Reverent Wright is not mainstream, but preaches a classic millennial/apocalyptic/paranoid/neo-Marxist brew masquerading as Christianity. And Obama sat there for twenty years, just drinking it all in. ..."

They slander conservatives like Palin, Bachmann, and Cain but leave RINOs like Perry and Romney alone. Makes you wonder why. Because liberals want dufus’ Perry and Romney to win the nomination so that we lose the Presidency.

This famous FDR quote (slightly modified) has been misused against G.W. Bush, et al. but it is supremely better suited for what the Rat party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party) and Obama are doing. They have nothing else for Election 2012.

All we have to use is fear itself.
