(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate and Texas Gov. Rick Perry will not attend the Palmetto Freedom Forum of GOP candidates Monday night, sponsored by Sen. Jim DeMint, and will instead return to Texas to deal with the wildfires in the state, DeMint's office told CNN.

Thumbs up to Perry for getting his priorities straight...
Palin is the one who left her state high and dry after supposedly cleaning out all the corruption in the Republican PArty in her state, she left to pursue uncertain riches. Perry is doing his job.
Very few FReepers hate anyone. Some of us disagree with the version that some Perry supporters are trying to paint of him. I do not hate Perry... I do not despise Perry... I do despise obama and ALL dims... I just do not think Perry is what we need for a President in these times.
“I haven't been his biggest fan, but I do think he is the one candidate in the race that can beat Obama. I thought that was our ultimate goal....to beat Obama.”
Wrong... it is our goal to elect someone that will work to reverse the progressive socialism that has been incrementally instituted in America since Wilson... and that person HAS to be someone that will do it without fear of consequence... without weighing their reelection chances against what it is that must be done.

No, but I was pointing out a pattern of psychopathic behavior from our POS in the WH. He’s also redirecting funds already approved for Joplin to be used for the Hurricane Irene relief.
He doesn’t like the red states.
Thanks, I am also amazed. Most of the remarks are fabricated allegations. I remember after Katrina when he made the decision that Texas would welcome refugees with open arms — he was a national hero then. Maybe they are Palin supporters, but people need to keep their eye on the ball. It’s okay to support different candidates but we don’t need to give the opposition any ammunition. The primary process will decide the candidate and unless we want four more years of hope and change we need to get behind that candidate. Obama wins if we eat our own.
Correction, obama HATES Red States.

>> Last I knew Rick Perry was not the governor of your state of Louisiana.
Cajun Conservative was ripping on *Obama* in that post, not on Rick Perry.
(Don’t feel like the lone ranger, I had to go back and read the context too. But CC is a Perry supporter.)
That is true.
I think you have inadequate information about both the fires and the meteorological conditions (particularly WIND) that have just made the situation in Texas far more dangerous.
How does it feel to be the biggest dumbass at FR?
So what is Palin’s excuse? She could be there.
Dio, you are what you post. And your posting history of constant idiotic regurgitation can never be plausibly excused as "sarcasm".
Well, I can fill your bill but I don’t think I’m going to get elected. So we need to think about someone electable.
Thanks. I was not clear enough in my post that I was talking about the dictator wannabe in chief.
I support Perry for president because he’s the best in the field to be able to fix what 0bama has broken. He’s also been directly fighting the regime tactics in his war on jobs and red states.

We’re in alignment there, FRiend.
The fires were a full-flamed disaster in TX yesterday, but he’s spending his Monday morning at a ‘town hall’ in SC.
As a native Texas resident, I take offense at your tone and post. Wildfires have been flaring up since the spring, but are contained within a few days to a few weeks. The latest round of wildfires only started yesterday afternoon, long after Gov. Perry had announced his intent to run for the Republican nomination for president. To even suggest Gov. Perry would neglect his state while wildfires ravage tens of thousands of acres of land, destroy hundreds of homes and kill Texas citizens either proves your complete ignorance of the situation or your hatred of the governor. Neither have a place on this forum.
The only things I would like to request from fellow FReepers are prayers for rain and for the safety of the firefighters putting themselves in harm’s way to fight these fires. Texas needs the prayers and the rain desperately. Thank you.
Sarah is in New Hampshire at a Tea Party event:

I believe that some FReepers will be there also.
“PDS”
What do Palin Derangement Syndrome sufferers have to do w/ Texas wildfires?
The pines are tinder-dry and the fire is exploding in them.
