You also have to realize the dynamics of the fire around Bastrop. That area is called the Lost Pines for the pine forests that are separated from the pines in East Texas.

The pines are tinder-dry and the fire is exploding in them.

I hope Tahitian Village in Bastrop is still standing.
Stayed there often in the early 90’s. Had an email within the last hour from my friend that has a house/cabin in the pines next to the state park ... so far so good. The floor of the Lost Pines area is solid, dried out pine needles. Tinderbox Texas 2011. Prayers for all those affected.
