A Nashville woman who won a civil lawsuit against the Davidson County Sheriff's Office for being shackled by deputies during labor is seeking a visa reserved for crime victims.
A jury last month awarded $200,000 in damages to Juana Villegas, who was arrested in July 2008 on a minor traffic violation. The charges were later dropped.
Villegas testified that her wrists and ankles were bound during an ambulance ride from the jail to the hospital.
The Tennessean reports Villegas' attorney has filed a motion asking a judge to certify her application for a "U visa," which was created to protect residents who are crime victims and may not report crimes for fear of deportation.

Ping!

You have your money, now get your illegal ass out.
Thank you for trying to make honest folk sound like bloodthirsty, crazed lunatics. Now go away.
I’m thinking the cops should be shackled to the woman as she is transported back as punishment for their clearly stupid procedure. On second thought, I was there when my wife gave birth to our children and, quite frankly, she was quite irritated, picking me out for a dress-down. Down right homicidal if I recall correctly. Maybe these poor cops were also targets of past maternity hysteria? These guys are the real victims. Yep, that’s the ticket. They ought to get TWAT bonuses.
Honest folk would acknowledge that the Mexican invasion is a war.
As may be, but your calls to kill, in the present circumstance, is way over the top!
this visa rule makes no sense
You may feel differently if you or yours end up on the business end of the Great Central American Crime Wave.
Remember Davidson County Sheriff’s Office during labor day.
“this visa rule makes no sense”
....
They give them out like candy. Woman has her husband arrested for domestic battery and her and the whole extended family get them. In the end, even the perp gets one! They all know about it now.
what a racket
In my view the crimes committed against her by the police are in a category not likely to be reported for fear of deportation, so it seems to me she is a candidate for that visa.
This POS is working the system....Actually her lawyers are, she is just another south of the border sub 80IQ with 3 anchor babies for the Idiocracy
Again, that’s as may be, but calls to do violence are a violation of Jim’s house rules, as they feed our enemies. So, please ask the mods to remove your posts or I shall have to.
Oops, too late. Belay my last. Mods beat me too it.
The victim and his/her children under age 21 are eligible. The perp is not eligible.
U Visas are given only for certain crimes, and they’re not defined as being ones that wouldn’t be reported for fear of deportation. I doubt this is going to cut it as one of those crimes. I wonder what the lawyer is trying to argue.
