Tea Party chief (Jim DeMint) defends Perry 's record
Financial Times ^ | Sept. 4, 2011 | Stephanie Kirchgaessner

Texas governor Rick Perry's previous support of Democrats was dismissed as irrelevant by aTea Party leader, in a sign that the rapidly rising Republican frontrunner for president is gaining allies despite questions about his record.

"We know people change. Reagan was a Democrat," said Mr DeMint on ABC's "This Week with Christiane Amanpour". "I want to give ... [all of the candidates] a little room to change. I know I've changed some positions I had 10 years ago, because the country's in a very different situation. So I'm going to listen and look and do my homework. And I'm not counting any of them out at this point."

The MSM, the Democrats propaganda arm is doing everything they can to turn Republicans and conservatives against Rick Perry, to try to get him defeated in the GOP primary, because they know that if Perry is the Republican nominee, Obama is toast for sure.

What assurance do I have that DeMint is not entrenched in the permanent political class?

So who did DeMint support in the last election? Aside from all that maybe he is invested in wind energy.

Dude, if you are questioning Sen. Demint, then I don’t think you belong on this site.

DeMint is the man. He was my no. 1 choice for POTUS but I’ll settle for his great service in the senate.

DeMint has been at war with the permanent political class since the (2nd) disaster election of 2008.

That said, I don’t think this is quite the endorsement that some will make it out to be. An open mind is good, a fair evaluation is good. That does not predetermine any particular outcome or conclusion.

Yea, this is the same Demint who is still toying with the idea of endorsing Myth Romney.

Is DeMint the elected president of the Tea Party, a self-appointed cell leader or king of the revolutionaries...or is this the moniker given by another ignorant reporter?

The liberals HATE Gov Rick Perry because everything they are for Rick Perry is against.

Many Babies were saved in Texas under Rick Perry.

No state in recent years has passed more Pro-Life legislation or removed more tax dollars from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s leading abortion committer, than Texas. In fact, Governor Perry partnered with Texas Right to Life to cut revenue to the abortion industry in the state’s budget in the recent 2011 Legislative Session. As a direct result, six Planned Parenthood affiliated clinics are closing in North Texas.

Naturally, what else? This appeared in the Financial Times.

What is the "permanent political class"?

I think it's like "the establishment", which means anyone not for your particular person or position. Of course, that can (and will) change

That is not a defense of Perrys record, damn it was a defense of his alleged party switching.

Most political sell-outs didn’t start that way, and the slow quicksand of Washington corruption is not something they typically dive into headfirst.

I don’t think of DeMint as immune to the “sellout” syndrome.

Perry's big problem is not the fact he was once a democrat who advocated for democrats and their causes.

The SINGLE issue that will sink him is his coddling of illegals and refusal to consider any solution besides their legalization.

In my opinion this makes him unfit for Federal office and inclined to act as traitor to the nation.
