I'm in Texas and have voted for Rick Perry each time he ran for governor. I would vote for him without hesitation if he were to be the Republican candidate against Obama. And, I don't consider myself a Palin drone since I'm still carefully evaluating the pros and cons of all Conservative contenders.
Still it is telling that today's speech by Sarah Palin is nearing 1,300 posts here on Free Republic (which the boss has proclaimed as "Palin Country"). Would a speech by Rick Perry draw that level of interest here on America's premiere gathering spot for American Patriots? I really don't know and we may ultimately find out should Perry deliver a speech at a high-profile event.
It’s Palin country indeed and TIME TO DEAL WITH THE BROAD DAYLIGHT THEFT OF AMERICA in ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. We want action so we have to carefully vet these candidates in terms of who gets bought. Perry will suffer big-time in that kind of analysis. He should have gotten the sanctuary bill passed by hook or crook if he had his sights on DC.
I no longer just assess potential candidate’s statements at face value; that person’s history of principles expressed through governing is what I am looking at closely this election cycle.
My research indicates Gov. Rick Perry is a not a conservative.
Gov. Palin is indeed a conservative.
Who gives a $hit about speeches. Obama mania was built on speeches.
Sarah Palin is a “personality”, a “celebrity” of a certain type.
She’s a unique combination. She’s been a mayor, a governor, she’s from Alaska, she’s a mother of a family which also got extensive media coverage, her daughter had a teen pregnancy, same daughter later competed on Dancing with the Stars with Sarah in the audience, her husband is a hunk who competes in a major Alaskan race each year, she’s relatively young, she’s beautiful, she competed in a beauty pageant, she has run for Vice President, and people continue to speculate and argue over whether or not she’ll announce she’s running for President, and I could go on and on but I won’t.
It is no wonder a speech by her would draw so many comments.
No other individual including Governor Perry generates the buzz she does.
Governor Perry has shown himself to be a formidable candidate so far, with forever to go until the election, but that isn’t the same unique niche occupied by the unique Sarah Palin.
It all depends on who gets the primary votes. Anything else is moot.
