Palin Sends Shot Across GOP Field's Bow in Fiery Iowa Speech (including Perry)
Real Clear Politics ^ | Saturday September 3, 2011 | Scott Conroy

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Sarah Palin still isn't a candidate, but in an aggressive bid to lay down her marker in the 2012 Republican presidential race, she delivered a speech here Saturday that was as confrontational toward the Republican establishment as it was aimed at President Obama.

Despite her high-profile endorsement of Rick Perry during his 2010 gubernatorial primary fight, Palin used thinly veiled language to leave little doubt that she sees the Texas governor and national front-runner for the Republican nomination as part of the problem.

“Some GOP candidates, they also raise mammoth amounts of cash,” Palin said. “We need to ask them, too: What, if anything, do their donors expect from their investments? We need to know this because our country can’t afford more trillion-dollar thank-you notes to campaign backers.”

Again and again, Palin urged her audience to confront “the permanent political class,” “crony capitalism” and “the good ol’ boys,” whom she said she took on as governor of Alaska.

[.....]

“They’ve got a lot of mouths to feed, a lot of corporate lobbyists, a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along,” Palin said. “It doesn’t surprise me. I’ve seen this kind of crony capitalism before.”

Yes..I am aware of this...have been looking into Perry's record for a time now. Unfortunately many of the Perryites could care less about the facts....but I've been wondering why they are so defensive and protective of Perry.

Well when you go on the border patrol sites and see the mess Perry has on it's border....and the overpopulating of Muslims to his country....it's no wonder Texans want people to come there and are making it sound like a great place to be......they're getting outnumbered rapidly and the elements coming in are not those most would care to be associated with.

This would explain also there terribly poor numbers on education....and other matters which tare the country down. The population explosion isn't that of Americans moving there......but there's an agenda to make it sound like that...it's all the foreigners moving there...and the vast majority are illegal aliens.

“Path to citizenship? That is amnesty through and through. No different than what Perry has stated.”

The entire quote is “....a path to citizenship for those that follow the rules.”

Heavens, Sarah just said she supports legal immigration! There must be some way we can spin that into her supporting amnesty for illegals.....isn’t there? Well isn’t there? /s

You crack me up! you should be ashamed for posting that twisted spun nonsence............

There were plenty—layered into the substantial policy plans she outlined. It was a great speech. The crowd was great!

Close the dam* borders and the amnesty or not nonesense will take care of itself in no time. We have a “path to citizenship” already.....’ENFORCE’ it’s rules and regulations. Simple.

The Laraza and other huge groups of Mexicans have claimed time and again they are not illegals...rather they are in their homeland...and many Mexicans support this idea.

If the borders are not “closed”....you can kiss Texas, Cal, and Arizona goodbye.....and it just might have to come to that.

So...Palin denied driver’s licenses yo illegals in Alaska because she wanted to legalize their status and wanted them to stay and work?

Odd logic, isn’t it?

Guess it only makes sense to CrooksandLiars.

Nr, you are mixing apples and oranges.

A donation to someone’s campaign does not prove that a decision was made because of the donation.

There has to be much, much, much, much more to a situation than, Merck gave 6 thou, therefore Perry’s decision was bought for the 6 thou. With that standard virtually everyone, including Palin herself, would run afoul sooner or later of having done something in office that would benefit a business that had contributed to the campaign.

Perry did not need the 6 thou. That is so very laughable. 6 thou is nothing. In the end Perry did what the people of Texas insisted upon. When Perry came to understand that he was trying to do something that was against the clear, expressed will of Texans, he said he had made a mistake and would listen to the people.

Who ruled...Merck or the people of Texas?

If Rick Perry had understood from the getgo that the people of Texas would prevent the guardasil plan, he would have never tried it, would he now?

So where was the staffer and the 6 thou playing into that little truth...the truth that Perry would’ve never tried this if he had known from the getgo it was against the people’s will?

Don’t worry, though, I realize you will never stop with your lies. It’s what you do.

There’s something else that needs to be brought to everyone’s attention here on FR.

Posts about Sarah Palin into the News/Activism thread of FR are being sent into the less read Bloggers/Personal thread.

One post from a New York Times article about her speech was moved off the News/Activism thread just within the last hour.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2773321/posts
This stuff has been going on for days with other Palin posts being shifted off the News/Activism thread.

What is going on with Free Republic?

If the candidate is a good conservative, then when conservatives get together to talk about him or her the candidate can be defended without recourse to vicious personal attacks right out of the gate. If the candidate is a weak conservative, vitriolic attacks against fellow conservatives appears to some, anyway, to be the best tactic. Doesn’t work for me.

The post that I linked was from a New York Times story and belongs in the News/Activism thread.

The moving of posts about Sarah Palin off News/Activism has been going on for a number of days and coincides with the massive dropping of Rick Perry posts onto the widely read News/Activism thread.

I don't disagree with anything you said. Sarah Palin is great! However, those weren't her words -- they came from the headline writer.

A few years ago I might have agreed with your assessment. But not in todays political climate.

Obama and the Democrtes have made it fully known they are going to “attack”....they have no other choice as Obama has nothing whatsoever to stand on.....they have also said it will be a viscious fight and the “gloves come off”.

Candidates can sense the change in the political climate and it’s coming from the citizens overall.

We have a country in dire straits...
feeling” the loses at home and in our sovernity. People are anger and have every right to be so. Further they want the BEST candidate to change this trajectory we’re on and there cannot be Half measures to get us there.

When you see people opposing Perry “visciously” it’s becuase he’s just another old boy in the political system playing the same old pay to play games. Americans are tired of the games...and the double talk...and paying for it...they’re done!.... And that includes those who are promoting Perry as if he’s any different then we’ve seen time and again. We’re tired of them as well.

So yes there will be an outcry against the “staus quo”....and Perry is just that. His state is in a hole though they are pushing everything they can to say otherwise...cooking the books to support him and their state.

But when you look beneath the curtain there’s so much crap going on their it’s remarkable it hasn’t been unearthed long before now. And there’s a push to make sure it doesn’t get unearthed.

So yes...there’s a lot of anger and people are not going to settle for a Rhino mix....a Globalist...and the sme old “stuff” we’ve been fed before...and if Perry supporters atempt to use FR as a campaign site for him I will continue to fend them off.....he is not good for this country and I do not want to see this nation go the way of TExas....all Big talk...but the evidence is not there for the looking.

And as we all know, polls never, ever, ever change over the course of time for any reason whatsoever. And why should anyone choose anyone but the person who is at the top of the “could beat 0bama today” list because nobody ever rethinks a position or changes their mind about a potential candidate after getting to know them and what they stand for better than they do today. Since Romney is the one that consistently can beat 0bama (according to polls taken in this very second in time) we should all be rallying around him. No point in having a primary season where party members actually support and vote for the candidate of their choice. That’s a ridiculous idea.
