Robert Redford on Obama: 'Like So Many Others I'm Beginning to Wonder Just Where the Man Stands' By Noel Sheppard Created 09/03/2011 - 10:31am
Barack Obama's Hope and Change ether appears to be wearing off on Robert Redford.
On Friday evening, the Oscar-winning actor and environmental activist published a rather scathing piece at the Huffington Post about the man Hollywood blindly put all its faith behind in 2008:
One reason I supported President Obama is because he said we must protect clean air, water and lands. But what good is it to say the right thing unless you act on it? Since early August, three administration decisions -- on Arctic drilling, the Keystone XL pipeline and the ozone that causes smog -- have all favored dirty industry over public health and a clean environment. Like so many others, I'm beginning to wonder just where the man stands.
After listing his grievances with recent Obama environmental decisions, Redford concluded:
I have to believe that President Obama still knows it's important to protect clean air, water and lands. Like so many, I'm waiting for him to stand up for all that. I'm waiting for him to stand up for our future. But we can't wait forever.
In reality, what Americans from all walks of life are learning - even Hollywoodans! - is the man they fell in love with despite his record or lack thereof really has no core beliefs or deeply-held positions.
He is an illusion masterfully crafted by himself, his handlers, and his sychophant supporters in the press.
What Redford and "so many others" are beginning to realize is that when you strip back the veneer, there's nothing but cheap particleboard held together with Elmer's Glue.
Nevertheless, they'll all happily support him next November despite his deficiencies and their disappointment.
Makes you wonder whose hypocrisy is worse - his or theirs.
Ditto, except without all the cussing.
Duh. It’s not nice to make fun of the elderly, but it certainly has taken a long time for him to catch on what a sucker he was, voting for an empty suit with a teleprompter.
Mr Redford oughta start investigating Zero the way he and Dustin did Nixon (and were later played in the movie by Woodward & Springstein respectively.)
He is the poster child for stupid Hollywood morons that should just shut up.
yes.
whatta dork!
He’s pretty much like this male ostrich who after seeing a female ostrich chased after her. The female ostrich ran and then stopped, and put her head in a hole. The male ostrich stopped, looked around and said “where the heck did she go?”
Bob it is not what you say it is what you do, come out and support a winner, in the opposition.
This is getting to be fun!
Who cares what radical Redford says...I mean who is he...
He stands in the rough on the 14th fairway.
Nevertheless, they'll all happily support him next November despite his deficiencies and their disappointment.Their disappointment stems from their categorical rejection of pluralistic polity and diverse society, in favor of their own single party state dystopian vision. Regardless, don't think for a minute that any of the entertainment industry liberal scumbags will vote for *any* Republican, ever, under any circumstances. This is just more posturing (if not the act itself, at least the coverage is) to build the meme that Pubbies should move just a little bit left -- say, to Alec Baldwin's favorite, Mitt Romney -- in order to entice in the needed votes.
His words speak more about liberals and their ilk than of Obama. Everyone knows know Obama is a lazy, dim witted, self serving regurgitator.
How could the energetic, smart, public minded original thinker like Redford not spot this on day one. Like all Hollywood elite, he’s too slow to realize what a tool he and his liberal buddies are.
Pla e your hope in a man and you will get disappointed every time. Lecture are starting to realize this.
Redford is worried about Obama’s position on “Arctic drilling, the Keystone XL pipeline and ozone emissions.”
Not to worry, RR. It’s a headfake to get re-elected. Obama has effectively shut down exploration and recovery in the Gulf, so chalk that one up on your side. And he is still hell-bent to shut down all of our coal plants.
That's not a nice thing to say about Redford's face.
Of course, Redford's comment is meant to express concern over Obama's positions not being far enough to the left. Wrinkly Bob could care less about the Marxist / Muslim stuff.
Make that- Redford finally remove his head from Obama's a$$ and looked at the outside world.
Chrissie Matthews must be very delighted with the wiggle room Redford's departure has given him.
