The Obama administration is abandoning its plan to immediately tighten air-quality rules nationwide to reduce emissions of smog-causing chemicals after an intense lobbying campaign by industry, which said the new rule would cost billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs, officials said Friday.
The Environmental Protection Agency, following the recommendation of its scientific advisers, had proposed lowering the so-called ozone standard from that set by the Bush administration to a new stricter standard that would have thrown hundreds of American counties out of compliance with the Clean Air Act. It would have required a major effort by state and local officials, as well as new emissions controls by industries and agriculture across the country.
The more lenient Bush administration standard from 2008 will remain in place until a scheduled reconsideration of acceptable pollution limits in 2013, officials indicated Friday.

Or in other words, until after the election.
So Obama doesn’t want clear air afterall? If these regulations are so necessary, then isn’t it hypocritical to stall them until after the 2012 election?
Still, this is good news. I was really wondering if the bastards were going to do this....I think once the unions started bellyaching Lord Zero changed its mind.
Lets sit back and watch his base crumble even further....he he!
He has no intent of reducing the regulations because he will just use the activist courts to implement them then claim he’s separated from the issue.
Rope a dope.
END THE EPA NOW!
It's election season and Obama’s only chance is to convince enough people that he's suddenly a “moderate”.
just a question, has anyone noticed an increase in foot traffic, horse travel, houses lit by candles, missing air conditioners I have not so I guess all this talk about saving the planet from the evils of coal, and oil does not apply to those who support such matters as they crank up the AC, jump in their SUV.S to drive the two blocks to the airport for their vacation travel aboard a 747, etc., etc..
God help us if there is somehow a second term. He will be like the Harkonnens from Dune: "We'll squeeze, and squeeze, and squeeze...."
August 5, 2011:
Finding middle ground on EPA-Texas electric squabble [EPA doesnt do middle ground] Texas' grudge match with the Environmental Protection Agency is getting nastier and riskier, with the fallout threatening to reach the state's power grid. Want another reason to worry about the lights staying on? Or how about another hit to the economy? You've heard lots of political posturing about Texas' way of life being threatened by an overreaching federal government. This time, Gov. Rick Perry has a point. ..
Don't be surprised if the attorney general jumps in after Perry slammed the rule for threatening Texas jobs and families and putting reliable, affordable electricity at risk. Late last week, 31 members of Congress from Texas, including eight Democrats, signed a letter to the White House asking for relief. The utility commission also filed objections with the EPA.
Texas officials and the EPA have been clashing over air pollution and environmental issues for the past decade. The conflict has deepened under the Obama administration as the EPA turned more aggressive and Perry sharpened his attacks on Washington......
Let’s see if the EPA complies with FUBO’s request. I suspect this is nothing but pure theatrics to improve his dismal image.
I personally have. I now walk the 6 blocks round trip to the local grocery store. I no longer use full lights in the evening,(candle light, nightlites, or computer lights), AC does not get turned on until above 95...and I am currently evaluating water catchment systems as the EPA mandates for water/sewer in our area have made access to potable water nearly outside my financial resources. Despite fresh water flowing less than 100 yards from my backdoor.
I feel for you brother/sister. Is this what our fathers and mothers wanted for us? I don’t have those problems but I will be Goddamned if I pass those on to my Children and Grand Children.
Is Obama trying to kill the children?
Give us our clean air you stupid dick!
Yep can’t have unemployment rise another 3% with the job losses this will cause but they can wait until Jan 2012 until after the election.
I think this is one of the beauties of the internet.
What one person believes is their common experience...another can tell them it might not be true everywhere.
In this case ...yes, the EPA regulations, mandates, and rules are negatively affecting access to clean water. The electricity issue isn’t too bad, but the long dark winter is coming and my attitude regarding that may change.
I wonder if the Obama administration will underhandedly try to sneak in the CDL requirement for farmers that got denounced recently and shot down ?
