Fox News Poll: 74% Of Republicans Don’t Want Sarah Palin To Run For POTUS

While Sarah Palin continues to stoke the fires and keep people guessing about her Presidential intentions, Republican voters seem to be speaking loud and clear:

All in all, most voters — 74 percent — think Palin should stay on the sidelines in 2012. Just 20 percent think she should run for president.

The groups most likely to support Palin running are white evangelical Christians (30 percent) and Tea Party members (28 percent). Still, majorities of those groups do not think she should run (62 percent and 66 percent respectively). In addition, 72 percent of conservatives, 71 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of independents think Palin should stay out.

Women (77 percent) are a bit more likely than men (71 percent) to say Palin should sit this one out.

Just among women, Republicans (26 percent) are more likely than independents (24 percent) and Democrats (15 percent) to think Palin should run.

Right.

Now let’s see the respondents’ opinions about the other candidates’ running.

” ... you’re not a conservative since you would rather cater to so-called Independents (moderates).”

That kind of thinking loses elections. I'm old enough to remember the 1964 election, which ushered in a filibuster-proof Congress that gave us Medicare, Medicaid, etc. The country has never recovered from that election.

She’s not my preferred and I want her to run simply to improve our chances against the RINO brigade.

Many of here on FR and the conservative base love Palin. But she has to get the vote of others, too. Not one poll has her even within shouting distance of 0bama. He HAS to be defeated in 2012, and Palin — much as I like her — isn’t going to get it done.

Poll after poll after poll shows the same thing

Do they? I've only seen two recently, which came in at 66 and 74 percent. Some would say that is consistent, since they are both substantial majorities. I would say that that is a huge amount of variation for about a week difference with nothing really happening, which makes me highly suspicious of the accuracy of the polling, and quite possibly the trustworthiness of the pollers.

Not to mention Ted Kennedy's Immigration Act (1965).

I agree, I’m sick to death of the so called “moderates”. They’re nothing but democrats intent on driving the GOP to the left.

They’ve moderated the GOP into a coma but don’t seem interested moderating the democrats who are growing increasingly radical.

Maybe its time for the moderates to put up or shut up and form their own party.

To try and get het to stay at FOX instead of running for President. Without her, ratings on various shows take a nose dive.

The idea is to beat Obama...

No, the idea is to help a true Conservative get elected. Anybody but Obama won't cut it.

Exactly right. I also find it fascinating that so few here on FR understand the distinct difference between a republican and a conservative- and how many will willfully submit to the almighty (R).

Polls this early in the process are worthless. They might mean something this time next year, but Sarah has not even declared, much less started campaigning, like the others.
