Palin to Rip "Crony Capitalism" in Iowa Speech
Real Clear Politics ^ | 09/02/11 | Scott Conroy

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Though she won't be a candidate when she delivers a major address at a tea party rally in Iowa on Saturday, Sarah Palin will make it clear that she if enters the presidential race later this month she will vociferously challenge Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s engrained image of solidarity with the tea party movement.

In her speech at the bucolic National Balloon Classic field in Indianola, Palin will lean on loaded phrases like “crony capitalism” and “permanent political class” in laying out her view of the U.S. political system’s deep-rooted ills, according to a source close to Palin and familiar with the content of the speech.

Though she will not call Perry out by name, Palin’s carefully couched rhetoric will leave the impression that she may soon draw more overt attention to one of the Texan’s potential vulnerabilities as a candidate: his history of doling out plum positions and other benefits to generous campaign donors during his nearly 11-year tenure as the nation’s longest serving governor.

We all know you hate Sarah Palin but give it a rest. Go promote your candidate for once.

Of course I don’t like “crony capitalism”, but IMO it’s bad timing to be focusing a negative of capitalism, just as we’re asking Americans to support the unleashing capitalism as a way out of our economic mess.

Perry does have cronyism backroom dealings issues in TX. I know that most Perry supporters will say “everybody does it” but that’s something that at least casual observers of Palin can admire about her - she doesn’t pay to play. So while she isn’t going to name Perry and they are good friends, going after crony capitalism does focus on s big problem that some have with Perry

No, you don’t get it. You don’t know when you’re being hustled. There is no there there.

It's quite easy to see how you are trying your damndest to "hustle" for someone. You have no "there, there", yet you continue to visit these positive threads to take a crap. Nobody cares what you say, since you have a very obvious agenda.

My question to you is: "who are you pimping for"?

I'll take Sarah Palin for a $zillion, Alex!

No question that she is one of the leaders in the tea party movement. But she’s had plenty of time to announce her intentions and now seems have become more of a “spoiler.”

I'm trying to point out that this worship of Palin is like a cult. I've paid attention to some of her appearances and when it's over, I realize she didn't really say anything.

She has a cult-like following and for what reason?

We must worry about defeating Obama and if she's flying into Iowa to just deliver another speech filled with platitudes, this is a giant waste of people's emotions.

Which parts of her speech didn’t you like?

Be specific.

Yes, I know she hasn’t given the speech yet, but you (apparently) know a lot about it. So please tell the rest of us what was wrong with it.

This discussion is silly. Palin is not a candidate.

She may not be but an awful lot of people sure are interested in what she says. When Sarah speaks EVERYONE hears her.

CAN YOU HEAR HER NOW?!

I hope she mentions Solyandra by name. GE too, as far as that goes. And that she gives specifics.

And Gibson.

Negatives of capitalism?

Realism is that the system is broke...there’s two ways we can go...deeper(SNAFU) or out of it(PALIN).

That’s my take.

Seems to me she’s talking about Obama, who she ran against with McCain, not Perry, who she endorsed—when was that? Last year? Year before?

What worship of Palin?

Seriously, that’s what you’ve decided to bring to this thread? Another thousand characters of tedious Pissant-lite PDS?

Good, it’s about time somebody started ripping into it.

Needs to be ripped when Republicans engage in it as well.

according to a source close to Palin and familiar with the content of the speech.

Any leaks by "Palin staff members", "event organizers" or "sources close to Palin" are always suspect at this point. Look what happened this week!Until I hear the speech, I ain't believing anyone but herself!

Trust but verify!

Didn't she endorse Perry in his most recent re-election?

You mean the one where he promised NOT to run for President and QUIT? That re-election?
