Fox News Poll: Perry Overtakes Romney as Top GOP 2012 Pick; Most Say Palin Should Stay Out of Race By Dana Blanton September 01, 2011 | Even as Texas Gov. Rick Perry moves into the lead as Republican voters’ preferred presidential candidate, a Fox News poll released Thursday shows that voters are more likely to view him as “too extreme” than former frontrunner Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney.

Even as Texas Gov. Rick Perry moves into the lead as Republican voters’ preferred presidential candidate, a Fox News poll released Thursday shows that voters are more likely to view him as “too extreme” than former frontrunner Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney.

In addition, most American voters -- including a majority of Republicans -- think former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin should stay out of the presidential race. Perry receives the support of 26 percent of GOP primary voters in the new poll. That’s up from 13 percent in early August and enough to edge out Romney as frontrunner. Currently Romney captures 18 percent, down from 21 percent (August 7-9).

No other candidate garners double-digit support.

Palin receives 8 percent and Texas Rep. Ron Paul comes in at 7 percent. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann captures the backing of 4 percent, down from a high of 11 percent in late June. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and businessman Herman Cain also garner 4 percent each. Another 4 percent support former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, even though he has said he is not running and his name wasn’t included in the question. Giuliani and Palin are unannounced.

I’m cementing behind him.

I’m letting all the Palinstinians do the work for me. So far they’ve missed with every punch they’ve thrown on him here.

FNC ... looking more like CNN every day.

A FOX News Polls asks the questions.

Voters, not FOX News, give the answers.

As a Tea Party supporter (sorry to offend some), I’m no longer amused by the narrative being perpetuated by the media....particularly Fox.

“Fair and Balanced” has turned to agenda driven propaganda.

She would be a distraction since she's been pretty well trashed by the RIM.

What makes you think that any other Conservative candidate would avoid the same trashing? Are you really willing to concede to the Rats that their Alinsky tactics work and thus vindicate them?

It’s time to put up or shut up.

Why? The press is whipping everyone into a frenzy when no one has to declare until October. Reagan declared his run Nov 13, 1979. And yet everyone is being led by the MSM meme. Again.

If she wanted to run, she blew it.

You do know that the election is in November 2012 and NOT November 2011? Right?

Congratulations on voting for Obama; I’m sure he’ll send you a thank-you note when he’s finished trashing the country.

Palin has already indicated she won't use this Tea Party event for her announcement. Sometime after the 3rd....more than likely.

Gee, you speak as if you know what you are talking about.

Choose your poison, Perry or Obama.

Either way, it appears so far, the Republic is doomed. Consumed by Hispanic Hordes from the south or consumed by debt and American tyranny.

What makes you think that any other Conservative candidate would avoid the same trashing? ...... Virginia Ridgerunner

The question is not to "avoid" the trashing. The trashing will come and cannot be avoided. The point is to DEFEAT the trashing. Some candidates are strong enough to defeat it and others are defeated by it.

As a result of a solid record of almost 11 years as Governor of the second largest and most economically successful state in the Union, one conservative candidate has not only survived the media attempts at trashing, he has flourished after a month of trashing.

Poll: Perry Pulls Ahead of Obama .... Rasmussen’s poll of likely voters now shows Rick Perry leading Barack Obama by 3 percentage points (44 to 41 percent)

By contrast, some candidates have been utterly defeated by the trashing.

Obama 50%, Palin 33%.... August 22, 2011 .... If Election Day was right now, President Obama would defeat the former Alaska governor 50% to 33%, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey .... women prefer the incumbent by a sizable 56% to 29% margin.

Agreed. We haven't seen anything yet.

But, of all the candidates, it certainly seems that Perry, with 11 years of solid executive experience in the second largest and most economically successful state in the Union will be the conservative candidate best able to stand up to the Left-wing onslaught.

Some candidates have been road kill for quite a while.
