If I remember correctly, Jim DeMint threatened to filibuster the debt ceiling vote unless he got a balanced budget amendment along with it.
To tell the truth, I don’t remember the details of how that turned out. But I sure don’t remember a DeMint filibuster; nor do I remember a balanced budget amendment approved by the Senate.

“Block the speech” is yellow journalism. Politico is not a news org but a propaganda organization. DeMint cannot block Obama from doing anything, but he can exercise influence over his fellow Senators and GOP colleagues.

Obama is getting worked over pretty good right now on Twitter #Obama.
One guy looks to be part black like Obama says...
Obama’s words are a lot like our currency - they’re worthless, abundant, and backed by nothing...

Why does it have to be an address to the joint session of Congress anyway? Why doesn’t he just give the speech from the WH?

I know better then to love any politician but I have a soft spot for him.
DeMint says Obama should pay attention to his would-be opponents. He will hear job creation ideas that dont involve more wasteful stimulus spending, DeMint said. And hell hear ideas that dont include job-destroying tax hikes."
So much for using the Senate chamber. LOL
Whenever he does give this speech after all this fuss he's just going to look worse then usual. It'll offer nothing useful or new and his mystique is gone.
