Speaker John Boehner has rejected Obamas request to address a joint session of Congress on September 7th to discuss his jobs plan. Boehner has asked that Obama consider the following night instead.
According to Politico, Boehner said in a letter to Obama that Sept. 8th would be better so we can ensure there will be no parliamentary or logistical impediments that might detract from your remarks.
It is important to note that on September 7, the GOP Presidential candidates will have a debate that is sponsored by NBC and Politico that will air on MSNBC. NBC and Politico announced earlier today that they would air the debate and not show the address to Congress.

Boehner should say no regardless of the night. We don't need to have Obama use the Reps as stage props and kigmees. The wholoe idea is to position Obama above the fray and blame Congress for our problmes. He is supposed to be the adult in the room calling on everyone else to stop bickering and do what is best for the country.
The Stupid Party had better grow a pair or they will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in 2012.

Now, if we could just get Boehner to stand up to Zero on things like spending and debt limit increases...

Why not just invite TOTUS and have that 'critter yell out "You Lie" every minute or so? They could assign each Republican a randomly selected time to yell "You Lie!!!"; the temporal correlation between shouted accusations and utterance of actual lies from Zero would probably be quite high.

I think they should have the debate immediately following Zero’s speech so we can see how the field thinks on their feet without canned answers. That would actually be extremely helpful for those of us who have not decided.

I bet this really will frost his ass something great. I love it. Let me see, Barky verses the NFL. I bet the NFL is undefeated on this one. This is my best wish, Barky speaks and no one watches.
