President Barack Obama is asking House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to round up their respective chambers of Congress for a joint session on September 7 where the president will lay out his much-awaited jobs plan.
Its unconfirmed whether or not Boehner and Reid will agree to the joint session, but its customary when the president requests one. The major criticism Obama faces holding a joint session jobs speech on Sept. 7 is that there is a Republican presidential debate scheduled on the same day.

"The major criticism Obama faces...."?
His request for joint session on the same day and time as the Republic debate, which has been scheduled for weeks, is deliberate. It's a taxpayer funded campaign speech. Boehner should say,'Mr. President, we would love to schedule a joint session, unfortunately, members of congress are away on other activities (ie. the debate) and could not attend. Therefore we'll schedule for another time when they can all be in attendance."

Any red-blooded American boy, older than 6, can read a TV guide. It’s unfortunate that Obama seems to have missed out on this basic education.

The Republicans should play this right. Postpone the debate that night until AFTER Obama’s speech. If his speech is at 8 EST, have the debate at 7 PST. That way, they can respond to and comment upon it the same evening.

Move the debate to the day after. Then they can respond to the plan of Obama’s that isn’t a plan.

My guess is the skid mark will see that the level of interest in hearing his meaningless Socialist blather will rate below that of say... a Republican debate.

I sent a suggestion to Rush just now that the Republicans ought to invite Obama to participate in the debate! Wouldn’t that be a hoot!

No reason to cancel debate. Boehner needs to quit crying and tell him to KMA dipslit.

Obama is going to ask for more money, so he needs a speech for that?

If Boehner allows the Obamite to convene the House on September 7th as requested he, Boehner, will be Obama’s Butt Boy...change “Boehner, Speaker of the House” to “Boehner, Obama’s Butt Boy”.
If the Negro Middle Finger Flippper had played less golf he could have had the use of the House on September 6 or if he had an extra round he could have had September 8.

Playing it right would be offering Hussein a time slot 90 minutes before the previously-scheduled debate.

The Reagan Library debate has been scheduled for that date and time since it was moved from May.
Obama can go to hell.
There's a debate the following week and another the week after that if anyone has any urge to comment on Obama's speech.
