Sarah Palin Appearance at Tea Party Rally in Iowa ‘No Longer Confirmed’
WSJ ^ | August 31, 2011 | Danny Yadron

Posted on 08/31/2011 8:11:56 AM PDT by markomalley

Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.

The person cited “continual lying” from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell of Delaware would also speak.

Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palin’s speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nation’s first nominating contest next year.

The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.

Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. It’s also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.

The former governor’s team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. O’Donnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. O’Donnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

I resent the idea that I am being PLAYED for political expediency.

Resent it all you want...but how they play and who they play on the battlefield of politics is what it is...and the voters and who they can influence are gamed in with it...as well as the prize.

There are few citizens if any who do not realize the seriousness our country is in. The problem is many politicians simply use it to their political advantage rather than actually putting feet to their talk.

Politics is a game....always has been and always will be despite the condition in the country and the stakes at hand.

I got exit polled by the AP following 2008. As soon as I said McCain/Palin, the woman stopped writing. Asked all the questions, but didn’t write down any answers....hmmmm....

Polls this far out are meaningless on the outcome of 2012. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. If not I defy them to show a verifiable sherd of historical proof that they are.

After you finish apologizing for being merely stupid and disruptive, I will give it great consideration. LOL

Or maybe I won’t.

By the way, it was that Conroy person who tweeted it.

It means for Palin it will be done my way and I won’t be set up to be ambushed...... She knows it’s a war out there now...just as another poster stated...you need to see her moves from a military perspective...then you will understand.

I'm not sure why I'm wasting time on this, but let me see if I've got this straight:

Palin agrees to speak at Iowa event.
O'Donnell invited to speak at Iowa event.
O'Donnell disinvited.
O'Donnell invited again.
Palin threatens to drop event. (Yes, no, on hold?)
O'Donnell booted again.
Palin back in.

You'll need to explain this to me from a military perspective, cause from a PR perspective it makes the tea party look like idiots.

Exciting to watch as the candidates attempt to take the lead. Off and running before the start gun is shot. IMO that will happen once Palin is on or off the field.

That was pure speculation with no official backing. People here wound themselves up with it. It was a ‘hope’ that took on a life of it’s own.

I have a feeling you don’t even understand what I’m “peddlin.”

Exactly what I expect from a person of no integrity. Accuse me publicly of threatening people and then refuse to back it up. Some ‘conservative’ you are Lindy.

But as I said before. I’ll remind you of it from time to time. Until then, people should read your posting history to see what trolls really look like.

Think of it more like a chess game. It makes slightly more sense that way.

In the end, we will never know the real story here, only a few do, and something tells me that this.. person close to Sarah... is nothing other than some little functionary in Iowa who doesn’t know the full story either.

Then change your perspective...don’t focus on O’Donell.

Having worked in the MSM for a few years, I assure you that “A person close to...” or the like is reporter shorthand for “Here’s what I believe but since they won’t let me write Op Eds, I gotta do it this way to get my crap out there and no one can prove otherwise because I can’t reveal my sources.”

I Swear to God. Truth.

Forgive my naivete, but I thought the Nov 2010 elections were all about returning the country to first principles. Your argument seems to be excusing the ruling class and their tactics to get reelected. I respectfully disagree with that decidedly RINO POV. I want a “get in your face” candidate — not a tactician. The time for tactics has passed. PAX

RE :”Someone kept pushing Sep 3rd as the announcement date, give or take. I can’t remember who though.

Well she did that Iowa Fair ‘I love Sarah’ video which appeared similar to a campaign commercial from what many commenters posted.
And it said a big announcement would take place Sept 3. (OOOOO what else could that be??)
Then were the Levin and Rove comments both predicting a Palin president run at the same time(lots of cheering on those).
Then one of the leading 'Palin for POTUS' cheerleaders posted this gloat vanity thread(which was another fun thread like this) .
Where are the “Palin isn't running” Brigade? Saturday August 20, 2011 | Floyd Resse Posted on Saturday, August 20, 2011

Now we got this party thread here, and the party is still going.

I can think of three campaigns specifically that would be hurling boulders at Palin right now. perry, bachmann, and romney. perry is being outed by the day, almost by the hour now. Anything they can do to stop Palin in her tracks is good for either one of them. bachmann is also scheduled to speak in Iowa and this is the kind of thing rollins is famous, or infamous, for. bachmann’s campaign, such as it is, is falling apart of its own volition.
Sarah is the monkeywrench in ALL their gears.

Both are necessary in this election and as well the Presidency.

RE :”Make no mistake if Palin runs I too will become a Palin-ite!

And a very nice one too I bet.

As long as you have a good backup plan.

I have always thought/posted that the chances of a Palin 2012 run were pretty low. And that hasnt changed, not the Founders Bus tour, not the documentary, not the IOWA Fair video or the Sept 3 date, none of that indicated a run to me, but it seemed to many others here.
