Rick Perry deals with the ‘dumb’ question (no wisdom in Obama's circle of academic advisers)

FORT WORTH, Texas — Between events in Fort Worth and Dallas Tuesday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry called in to conservative pundit Sean Hannity’s radio show, and the host brought up a controversial story published by the online publication Politico this week with the headline "Is Rick Perry Dumb?"

"What’s dumb is to oversee an economy that has lost that many millions of jobs ... to downgrade the credit of this country ... to put fiscal policies in place that were a disaster back in the ’30s and try them again in 2000s," Perry said.

Hannity quickly warned that the thought listeners will take away from the interview could be: "Perry calls Obama policies ’dumb.’"

"Are you ready for that headline?" Hannity asked.

"America is ready for leadership," Perry said.

Perry continued on the intellect theme, explaining why he thinks it’s a problem that many of Obama’s advisers come from academia.

"They have gone to some great schools and they are intellectually smart, but he does not have wise people around him ... He has listened to smart people but nobody who has real wisdom," Perry said.

Gov. Rick Perry: “We are fed up with being overtaxed and overregulated. We are tired of being told how much salt we can put on our food, what windows we can buy for our house, what kinds of cars we can drive, what kinds of guns we can own, what kinds of prayers we are allowed to say and where we can say them, what political speech we are allowed to use to elect candidates, what kind of energy we can use, what kind of food we can grow, what doctor we can see, and countless other restrictions on our right to live as we see fit.”

“I do think George (W. Bush) is basically a conservative man who believes in God, in the greatness of America, in the protection of life, and in protecting our nation from our enemies ... (but) he turned a blind eye to undisciplined domestic spending while he focused on ensuring funding for a very important war against the perpetrators of terror.”............ Source

The GOP hasn’t had a candidate speak like that since 1984.

Perry wins the nomination and rolls Obama next November by double digits.

In academia, if one plays the tenure game just right he can stay around forever. In the real world, it is not a game. Real tangible results are expected in the real world. Next October Obama and his advisers will get introduced to the real world.

In today’s WaPost by Dana Milbank’s take on Rick Perry and his earlier book “On My Honor” about the Boy Scouts:

[snip]

“...In a series of hoary bromides, the supposedly libertarian Perry condemns the “litigious advocates of licentious behavior” (that’s the ACLU) and informs us that “Sometimes the rules must protect society at large at the expense of individual expression when that expression is deemed harmful to others and society at large.”

Among the things Perry “deems” harmful: universities (students “have been taught that corporations are evil, religion is the opiate of the masses, and morality is relative”); human rights commissions (“often nothing more than a front for attacking institutions that teach traditional values”); and evolution (he says “the weight of evidence” supports intelligent design). Perry polishes the old “war on Christmas” chestnut and finds a way to cast Mitt Romney (now his rival for the nomination) as a defender of gay scoutmasters.

Though he speaks now as a small-government conservative, Perry argues in his book: “We are close to a tipping point in American society. If you believe there is right and wrong, that there are acceptable standards of behavior . . . then you have a stake in this war. If the attackers win many more victories . . . the culture war may be lost before we know it. If that happens, we will find ourselves living in a world where moral relativism reigns and individualism runs amok. Now is the time to enlist in this effort, to stand up and be counted.” [end excerpt]

I wouldn’t trust a word from Dana Milbank. I don’t know why any conservative would.

Gov. Perry has been going after the peddlers of bad education for some time. He's "infected" other state governors with the same zeal to make changes. Obama is going to try and make Texas students look dumb too (there is a long way to go but Perry and Texas have been working the problem). When you look at the truth, Obama's Ed. Sec. Arnie Duncan looks dumb:

The Obama Administration's Lone Star Mistake ("a swing and a miss" at Rick Perry)

Teacher's unions are going to double down on Perry.

Trail lawyers have already put things in motion to oppose him and help Obama in 2012.

This is quickly making the rounds at conservative and liberal sites:

Will Rick Perry Unravel the Strange Consensus on Public Education?

*********************************

The EPA and Gov. Rick Perry are actively waged in combat over regulations and dictates.

EPA, Energy, Economy, Education.....(good places to make a stand and push back)

We can’t call Obama dumb. He hasn’t shared with us a single original thought and refuses to release his grades, so he might be smart, we just don’t know it yet! /S

Could you imagine ANY news or political organization during the last election saying “Is Obama dumb?” They would have been immediately labeled racist. You couldn’t even call him articulate!

I don't speak Spanish. I took it (and Latin) as a 2nd language requirement for college prep in high school, back in the 60s (I can still count and know my colors and how to order a nice Mexican dinner).

How's your Spanish?

Yesterday Rush pointed out that Obama announced August 29, 2010 that he would release his “Jobs plan” when he got back from his summer vacation on Martha’s Vineyard.

Rush said — it’s Ground Hog Day with Obama’s job’s “plan.”

*********

It’s obvious that Obama (and his minions) have their shoulder against the door of recovery, with no intention of letting it swing open.

The question is: How much more damage can this administration do to the United States (the world) before Jan 2013?

I don’t see how even Sarah could say it any better than this guy. I was all for her getting in the race, but we have a candidate in Rick Perry that speaks for me. If anything, I think she should come out strong for him as she said she would if a candidate who articulated conservative principles were to run.

I’ll put it very simply. I don’t want illegals swamping my country. I don’t want Sharia. Both of those things seem to be happening. Perry doesn’t seem to be the answer for these issues.
You seem to be easily assuaged. I’m not.
Let me solve the problem for you. Tell me what you find lacking in this Presidential contender.
