Perry's 2010 Tea Party-steeped manifesto, "Fed Up!", makes George Bush look like George McGovern. Perry has said he wasn't planning to run for president when he wrote the book, and it shows:
The Texas governor floats the notion of repealing the 16th Amendment, which authorized the federal income tax.
Perry laments the New Deal as "the second big step" - the 16th and 17th amendments being the first - "in the march of socialism"....
Disagreeing with liberal justices is one thing. Accusing them of not caring about the Constitution is like denouncing the opposing party as unpatriotic - and is equally out of bounds.
Perry's ideas range from wrongheaded to terrifying: requiring federal judges to stand for reappointment and reconfirmation; and letting Congress override the Supreme Court with a two-thirds vote in both houses. This "risks increased politicization of judicial decisions," Perry allows, "but also has the benefit of letting the people stop the court from unilaterally deciding policy."

“Fed Up” details Perry’s dislike of New Deal, federal government
Oh Noes! You can pass or repeal and amendment with 2/3’s of the vote?
Perry is diabolical!
Boy am I glad he is just another “RINO”, aren’t you?
I’ve read the book and found nothing objectionable in it. In fact, I found it quite refreshing and agree with most of what Governor Perry said therein. I also see why what he said would scare the HELL out of the Washington establishment! Both parties!
Ruth Marcus, another insane Liberal Obama supporter.
Reading Free Republic, you’d think Perry is to the left of Clinton. Articles like this cement my support for Perry. I’m sure I’ll be flamed for supporting another establishment RINO.
LOL
:) Great, Thanks. :)
“The statists believe in a powerful, activist central government that advances a radical secular agenda in the name of compassion. The hide behind misguided notions of empathy and push token talking points about fighting for the little guy, all the while empowering the federal government to coercively and blatantly undermine state, local, and self-governance. pg. 320
The truth is, I dont care what party the statist is in. The fact of the matter is, it is the statist, and those who support or enable him, who is the problem. For too long he has undermined this country by empowering the national government at the expense of liberty. An America defined by the statist in Washington is an America doomed to fail. pg. 338
(both quotes from Perry, Rick; (2010-11-15). Fed Up!: Our Fight to Save America from Washington.
Anyone who has a problem with that has a problem with ME because he has NAILED what I’ve been posting about on this site since March of 1998!
I think Perry's best statement was he was going to make Washington as inconsequential to our lives as possible" that is key.
The appeal of Perry is that he doesn't seem to be agenda driven or personality (ego) driven. He seems to want to get Washington out of everyday Americans lives. He is the only one talking this way, the only one.
Actually no, but he is Far to the Left of say...Herman Cain or Jan Brewer.
Perry is in line with Romney and I, as well as many others will be voting for someone like Cain or Brewer in 2012.
Obviousely if the Republicans run one of the twins they will lose a good part of the base. We will see in that case whether a 2012 RINO can do any better than their 2008 RINO did.
I agree with all that you said and do so after having lived with him as my governor for 10 years!
Rick Perry is as genuine as they come in politics and that is why he is going to get hammered hard by BOTH sides!
If we really do want our country back we have to be willing to stand with the man who will at least start us on the road to getting there!
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
Of course, there's a difference between what he writes and what he'd do. President Reagan was blocked from his goal of dismantling the NEA, and Rick Perry likes bending with the wind.
But let me put this to you: what if the wind changes to make what's in Fed Up politically popular?
Nonsense Perry is a RINO democrat! (according to some)
Brewer? Who the heck is Brewer?
