Rick Perry Needn't Sweat His Global Warming Skepticism
Forbes ^ | August 30, 2011 | Larry Bell

Posted on 08/30/2011 1:27:35 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Washington Post op-ed writer Richard Cohen is concerned that “Climate Change May Be Ruin of Perry Campaign.” Far less clear was whether he regards that imminent ruination to be a bad thing, or rather, a cause for celebration. There are excellent reasons to suspect the latter.

Cohen doesn’t hold a very high opinion of the Texas governor, of anyone who doesn’t buy into the notion of a looming global man-made global warming disaster, or of Republicans. Referring to Perry in an Aug. 22 Washington Post article, he opined “It’s not his thinking I fear, it’s the lack of any at all.”

Cohen observed that “[Perry] occupies the cultural and intellectually empty heartland of the Republican party.” The article scorned Perry for publicly stating that he stood with an increasing number of scientists who have challenged the existence of man-made global warming threats, commenting “…whoever they (italics noted) might be. In Appleton, Wis., Sen. Joe McCarthy’s skeleton rattled a bit.” His reference to McCarthy went on to elaborate that “The late and hardly lamented demagogue pioneered the use of the concocted statistic” in suggesting that communists were literally everywhere. He further amplified “There were some, of course, just as there are some scientists who are global warming skeptics, but these few – about 2% of climate researchers – could hold their annual meeting in a phone booth, if there are any left. (Perhaps 2% of scientists think they are).”

This would require a pretty big phone booth,.....

Since 2007 more than 31,000 American scientists from diverse climate-related disciplines, including more than 9,000 with Ph.D.s, have signed a public petition announcing their belief that “…there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause...

OH just keep up the trolling....I have found more people have been turned off by the anti-Perry folks...and actually have driven them to be Pro-Perry. What you’d planned to hurt Perry has actually helped him. Thanks!

If you truly believed that you wouldn't be trying to get us to stop posting the truth on RINO Mitt Perry.

But you're free, of course, to go with whatever wild-eyed rants you feel make your point, regardless how much reality disproves them.

Wind power is great! The research and manufacturing moving to Texas is fantastic!

Thanks for posting this information that is bound to be a burr under the saddle of not only the anti-Perry crowd but also for the carbon cultists who live to take our great sovereign State of Texas down a notch or two.

You have NO IDEA how many people have thanked me for posting RINO Mitt Perry's FULL record, not just the horse squeeze you Perry apologists want them to see. And I have a lenghty ping list also, one of two that are used regularly to combat the pro-ILLEGAL alien propaganda you Perry apologists regularly use to pollute this conservative forum.

I've gotten a lot of compliments on this graphic too, with more to come.

Governor Perry is an advocate for the biotechnology fields, too. He only supports ethical research, however, that does not destroy human life.

Very interesting...When that was being done in California for the past 20 years, it was mocked and totally discredited at every opportunity.

Of course the illegal aliens in CA are the fault of Californians and they were told repeatedly, they deserved everything they get!

It's odd how things change so quickly...

The new Communism has a great appeal to the human archetype that has an inherent desire to be the center of the universe. In a godless world, man wants to be as a god (this is why the Left opposes Christianity). It wants to control nature so it is domesticated and subserviant to man. This has gone on throughout history. At the same time, men have opposed this effort to extend to his own autonomy. Men do not want to be coerced and want to live life as rational, self-directed stewards of their own world. To use science as man’s own weapon against his freedom is the ultimate insult and something we should oppose with all of our might. Scientific knowledge is for the benefit of the knowledge it gives to help make decisions. It shall not be used to make our decisions for us.

Any policy based upon scientific theory is bad policy. We have had such policy before. The ultimate monstrosity of policy based upon scientific theory was the decision to exterminate the Jews. It was based upon the Darwin’s theory of evolution. The Jews were seen as an evolutionary aberration that had to be eliminated for the perfection process of mankind.

The green revolution is actually scientific regression. It does not use facts to prove theory. Instead, like Perry said, it is base upon the politics of grant money. I have written extensively about the grant-politician-campaign contribution money cycle. Its total effect is to increase government so the politician can increase their personal wealth using our tax dollar. The Left is about money and control = power over our lives. We have opposed this since the forming of the republic.

The reason that all of it falls apart is that the “greenhouse theory” itself fell apart.

An atmosphere is a net loser of energy. The reflected energy vastly exceeds the retained energy for a simple reason: the greatest source of energy (the sun) is outside of the atmosphere, and more than 90% of the retention of energy from the atmosphere is the simple heat sink effect of the lower portion, IOW the water vapor.

On the other hand a real greenhouse doesn’t reflect much at all, but it allows most of the solar energy to enter the greenhouse, the exact opposite of what the atmosphere does, and the heated air is not allowed to escape as it would outside.

Well said! Ann Coulter, in her book Demonic wrote about the herd mentality of the Left. The herd mentality forces everyone to compromise down to the lowest common denominator in order to belong to the group. It manifests in conformity, repression, and self-denial where the individual degenerates to a sub-human state so that all values are defined only in terms of the herd. It is the antithesis of individual innovation and autonomy.

Cohen has been syphylitic brain dead for years. It’s the spirochites. Plus his momma married her cousin. That drops at least 50 points from Cohen’s 80 IQ score.

Last I heard, Cohen is looking for a lawnmower man to tie his shoes.
