Buyers’ remorse: Youth ditch Obama. Millennials now hope for White House change
WashTimes ^ | 8-29-11 | WashTimes

President Obama coasted into the White House thanks in part to the youth vote, individuals aged 18-29 who bought into his vague promise to bring change. During Mr. Obama’s term in office, however, many of this group - known as Millennials - have been forced to learn how to subsist on pocket change. This isn’t quite what they were expecting when they turned out in historic droves in 2008.

According to a recent poll commissioned by Generation Opportunity, 57 percent of Millennials participating said they will learn more about the policy positions of presidential candidates in the 2012 election than they did in 2008. This is bad news for Mr. Obama, who is encumbered with a record that hurts young adults. His $825 billion so-called stimulus robbed the private sector of cash needed for job growth, while Obamacare will squeeze money from these healthiest of Americans through fines and forced participation to subsidize treatment for old sick people.

“Young people are disillusioned after 2008, when the message was change,” points out Surbhi Godsay of the youth-research organization CIRCLE. Now, she says, they’re “concerned about employment.” And for good reason.

Statistics show that Millennials have been hit hard by the high jobless rates around the country. The unemployment rate for 16-24 year-olds is a staggering 18.1 percent, down from the record-breaking high of 19.1 percent a year ago, while 25-34 year-olds face a rate of 9.7 percent, higher than the national average. Among Millennials, “Everybody knows somebody who’s really been struggling to find a job,” explains Paul Conway, president of Generation Opportunity.

Obama brought change - lots more of those same young people are unemployed now. That's change. He didn't say 'change for the better'... just 'change'.

"Does she regret it?"

She avoids talking about it and I don't want to pound her with "See I told you so!!". I'm hoping it was a good learning experience for her and hopefully reinforces the things I told her over the years. I think she does. Unfortunately we all have to suffer for her and many other young people's "lessons"...

All he’ll have left is the Coloured vote
____________________________________________________________

No, that’s not all. He’ll still have the Union Thugs,
the gays,
the baby-killers,
same-sex marriage proponents,
Welfare Queens,
Chicago-style Election-riggers,
lazy Rednecks drawing SS Disability and
a whole helluva lot of uninformed, stupid American people.

He’ll be o.k.

I was never dumb enough to vote for Jimmy Carter or Walter Mondale over Ronald Reagan.
Yeah, but, in '08 McCain was no Reagan.

If you get that hip done, take time to thank your daughter and make sure she knows her voting allowed you to have it done on her dime, at the expense of her purse.

I can personally attest to a lot of friends I have who are disillusioned. Unfortunately there’s also a good number who are diehards regardless, but they’re beyond reasoning with at this point.

True, but then again Obama was no Carter either. I think Carter is the only person in America happy right now. His legacy is looking better every day.

If Perry is the nominee (with his “SS is ripping the youth off” talk) and Rubio VP (Hispanic connection)...Obama might be happy if he wins CA, IL and NY.

This is sweet, a whole new generation is re-learning what those of us who lived through Carter learned.

You have to have a Carter to make a Reagan.

And in this case you have to have an Obama to make a Perry.

The quickest and most efficient way to turn a liberal into a conservative is to let liberal policies hit them in their pocket book. As soon as those policies impact them personally, they become conservatives in the blink of an eye.

Thus, only fools, idiots, mentally challenge asshats, uber wealthy elites, and career welfare recipients are in favor of the progressive agenda.

The black vote is also concentrated in mostly blue states anyway which greatly lessens the impact of their slavish vote for The One.

It seems they’ve learned an important life-long lesson (just as I did coming of age during the Carter Administration)

Watch in 2013 Madison Avenue will conveniently drop most of the smiling black faces in their ads, trying to sell black as honest, virtuous, intelligent, trendy, crafty and wise. Michelle and Barak's Black hegemony willl last less then Hitler's Third Reich. If I were a black member of the vampire class living in Philly, Detroit or Chicago, I would be real nervous, Yous about to get off the gravy train, we gonna beat your Messiah like a red headed stepchild. Watch Grant Park election night all the pouting faces of the black intelligentsia and glitterati like Oprah. Back to being like everyone else that night fatty.
