President Obama has Tour Buses Flown to Stump Speeches
RedState ^ | Monday, August 29th, 2011 | Ben Howe

President Obama has been touring all over the midwest these past few weeks, giving speeches to crowds of fans, anxious to hear what’s next on his agenda. One could be forgiven for believing that these are less about pushing the president’s current agenda, and more about launching the reelection campaign, however this is a charge that the administration adamantly denies.

But there is a very simple reason that this is viewed as more of a campaign effort. Boasting bulletproof windows, five inch thick doors, and it’s own oxygen supply, the President has made the rounds for these speeches in a multi-million dollar bus, dubbed “The Beast” by it’s critics. There’s been no shortage of opinions from people and pundits on this bus and how having the President tour around the midwest in a caravan of cars and seated on a tour bus sends the message that he is on the campaign trail and using taxpayer dollars to do it.

It appears however, that this might not be the case. According to some sources he hasn’t really been riding these buses much at all. They say, he’s been flying them.

Apparently President Obama only rode the buses for a couple of miles at a time, spending the rest of the time flying from community to community in Air Force One. What’s more, the buses were flown from stop to stop as well. It’s normal practice for the President’s entire motorcade to be loaded up on cargo planes and flown from destination to destination. The buses were just a new part of that motorcade.

But why wouldn’t the presidential limousine have sufficed? Or one of the other armored vehicles that routinely travel with the President? Apparently because the President wanted the imagery of a bus. And buses are what he got.

So good news America! If these reports are true, then not only do you get the pleasure of having a $1.1 million dollar bus carting the President around to “enlist” voters to fight for his reelection, but you get to marvel at the hypocrisy of an administration hell bent on destroying industries with carbon footprints too large for comfort, while they themselves are flying entire caravans of SUVs and buses in giant 747s flanked by fighter jets.

All so the president can travel a couple of miles per stop with the image that he’s on the ground with the people when in reality, he couldn’t be more detached from them, their problems, or this continually declining economy. You couldn’t ask for a better metaphor.

Operation Rolling Blunder becomes Operation Flying [Leap]

Flying buses all over the country = "Putting America Under the Bus"

If a Republican candidate did this those buses would be egged if not stoned by the leftist thugs! But Conservatives do not behave like that. Instead the fury rumbles in our minds over such audacity as this man using public property to further his political campaign!

...but I doubt he airlifted the stoopid bus.

I don't know about that.

If he hadn't had the buses flown from stop to stop wouldn't he be incessantly reminding us about the four jobs he 'created' for the people needed to drive the buses from stop to stop?

;-)

That’s a big bus. I doubt even a C17 is tall enough to carry it. Then where do you land a heavy lifter in rural mid-America? You can’t drop that bad boy on a 5000 ft. general aviation airport.

This just doesn’t smell right.

Wouldn’t “All Asshat — No cattle” be more accurate?

And, at those locations the crowds were ardent Obama supporters who would cheer him even if they actually saw him committing a criminal act.

So true. I can't get out of my head that video clip of Maxy Waters saying the tea party can "go to hell" and that woman in the background laughing hysterically. I think that if Obama came out and said exactly what he thinks and said that America can go to hell that it would get the same reaction from his sycophants.

I smell the birth of an urban myth too. I checked the Won's itinerary, it covered only 316 miles over 2 days, if you believe Google Maps/Directions (Cannon Falls, MN -> Decorah, Iowa -> Peosta, Iowa -> Alpha, Illinois).

What is weird is if you get the map of directions, it seems to skirt right around another state, some place called "Wisconsin". Wonder why they didn't stop there to claim 4 states instead of 3? /s

“Dat ho looks like she could kick yo ass up around yo ears.”

I think that’s the special chocolate donut she has for breakfast on the ground...she’s trying to beat slow Joe to it.

I don't doubt this story is true. I was invited to see Bush board Air Force One and fly out of Boeing Field. Across the field there was one or two C-17 used to fly the two helicopters, several vehicles, and the equipment the Secret Service took with them. All necessary to support his Western Washington itinerary. I could see Obama pushing it to the limits for his own gratification.

Actually they would. They have 55 foot bays and the height is more than sufficient.

Also they only require a runway 3078 foot long.

With 2 buses, one could be traveling to the next stop while the other is at a rally. At an average speed of 55 mph, a bus can cover a lot of miles in 24 hours. All it takes is several drivers.

If we had a picture of Obamah & Mooch unloading ‘The Black Cloud” from Cargo-1 to take a 20 mile bus-ride into town that would be great.

“All Hat——No Cattle”

I thought he came up a hat short, but I see someone posted a picture that shows otherwise.

Where the #3!! did the mis-labeled "journalist", Ben Howe, supposedly learn to write English?

It’s a misspelling, not a punctuation error.

And I wasn’t talking about posters on FR. I was talking about semi-bloggers/semi-journalists such as RedState. They should hold themselves to higher standards than the lamestream media.
