Former Vice President Dick Cheney says his book, which hits bookstores Tuesday, will make heads explode.
While early leaks of the manuscript have focused on revelations about rifts among officials in the Bush administration, The Daily Caller has combed through the 527 pages of his autobiography, In My Time, in search of nuggets you may not have known about Cheney.
Heres what weve learned:
- Cheney thought the military had taken down passenger planes on 9/11
- Cheney laid out reasons why he shouldnt be VP before being picked
- Donald Rumsfeld once rejected Cheney as an intern
- Cheneys first heart attack dates back to his first campaign
- Cheney wrote resignation letter in case he was unable to fulfill duties
- Cheney explains why he told Sen. Leahy to f**k yourself.

This is all the best stuff in the book, minus the liberal spin.

Cheney explains why he told Sen. Leahy to f**k yourself. Responding to overwhelming constituent requests?

My thought on that one was that it needs no explanation - it was simply what I and many other Americans wanted to say to Leahy for years.

Uh, if you read George W Bush’s Decision Points you would already know points 1,2 and 5 so I’m not sure how these are new things we didn’t know about Cheney.

As in: Four * General Colin Powell *affirmative action rank

All that was ever needed to neutralize Powell's reputation as an authorative republican media source was for anyone in his cohort to tell the truth about him.
Cheney is the only one who has the nads, apparently. Powell will never be able to pull off his phony act again.

colin powell, an affirmative action appointee, is jealous of cheney’s success
and trying to head of the truth behind the scooter libby fiasco.
powell who sat next to the president bush quietly pretended to know nothing when his own associate had outed plame wilson.

That was discussed here on FR in 2001 and 2002 several times. Jets were scrambled from NAS Oceana and Langley AFB...reportedly with orders to take the plane down that crashed in PA. I believe that the passengers took the plane out, but if they hadn’t the AF would have.

One of the greatest items that got little mention is that Cheney donated over 80% of a 90 million dollar windfall income from Haliburton to charity and the press generally did their best not to report it.

Cheney thought the military had taken down passenger planes on 9/11 At some point after the second plane flew into the WTC, two things happened. The FAA ordered all aircraft to land, and President Bush gave an order to shoot down any aircraft that wouldn't land.
When Flight 93 went down in Pennsylvania, the President, (and now we know that the VP) initially thought the military might've shot down that plane.
