I can shoot my dad’s 1911A1 using snake shot but can’t handle it when using regular rounds. So snake shot would work great. When I’m home I carry a Beretta Tomcat in .32cal loaded with hydra-shocks and Glaser Safeties with a spare mag.

My wife has fired everything from 17M2 to 500 S&W Magnum. Even my T/C Encore with a .308 (100 gr). Her favorites are the SIG 225 (single stack 9mm) and S&W 686+ 4" bbl (.357 Mag). Both fit her hand well. It is important to be able to competently handle what you carry. I like the 686+ and put thousands of rounds down the barrel when I had time to do so. For hiking in bear country, I carry the S&W 629 4" bbl with PMC 240 gr hollow points. I once shot a centerfire match with that 629 using the 44 mag ammo. Not recommended for top scores. The one-hand 25 yard slow fire only netted 25 points. The two-hand 25 yard slow fire was 75 pts. The 686+ with 38SPL usually nets 95+ points on either target.
