At a ceremony to honor the opening of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in our nation's capital Friday, the late civil rights leader's daughter Bernice made an historical error that would evoke tremendous ridicule and derision if she were a conservative.
BERNICE KING: "But as I close, I close with the recognition that daddy is standing, Lincoln is seated. Lincoln remembered for signing the Declaration of Independence. Daddy being remembered as standing up for truth and standing up for justice and standing up for righteousness and standing up for peace and standing up for freedom. Daddy is now standing on the National Mall in our nations capital."
Uh, maybe public schools taught by tenured union teachers?
The last name "Lincoln" hasn't provided her with a lifetime meal ticket in spite of a total lack of education or ability.
As a side note, given the way King betrayed his family, it's not really surprising that his legitimate achievements and aspirations mean nothing to most of them.
Hey, everyone has gaps in their education. That free public education, is working for her. Today the gap closed just a little. The Democrats will always cover for their own. But we know better and we never forget! Come on 2012.
If it was a prepared speech she had time to review and correct it.
Lincoln was also born in a log cabin he built with his own hands.
Yeah, it sounds stupid. Follow me around for a few hours and I’ll come up with real zingers, too. I just listened to the guy at KSFO tell me that unions were, in his opinion, a good deal for workers at the start of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Unfortunately, when you’re on the radio, you shout your mangled speech to the multitudes. When you’re making a big speech, it’s recorded, and you sometimes jumble words and thoughts. I’m really tired of this kind of shallow critique, frankly, esepcially after it was used to destroy G.W. Bush. Everyone stumbles over their words all the time. Moses had a speech impediment, if I remember correctly. Give it a rest.
However, the accumulated writings and speeches of a person are important. Themes, intellect, and ideology become clear. If your speech is studded with gross errors of fact time after time, if your ideas stated over and over are banal or based on beliefs that bear bad fruit, then by all means it deserves comment. Maybe King’s daughter is a buffoon. Maybe she’s a briliant young woman who had a cold and sleepless night before the speech. I’m giving her a break.
The Black Democrats seem detached from reality,Very detached!
Which I just did, by the way. I was trying to make the point that the guy on the radio stated that unions were important in the 1810s and 1820s... which was not what he meant, but it is what he said. I figured out what he meant anyway. We’re all God’s children, and flawed at that.
An error of this magnitude by a public figure is almost unbelievable. The fact that it is not going to be reported, likewise.
A. Libtard Patti Davis would never say something nice about her father.
2. She would never show up to say anything.
iii. She's too busy supporting abortion and Sodomite rights.
Probably thinks that Samson slew the Finkelsteins.
Exactly. I mean it's a mistake anyone could make. After all, the Declaration was signed, what, 19 (?) years before the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, and quite conceivably, Lincoln could have been there if he didn't have to ride in an open limousine on that fateful day in Dallas. Maybe Bernice had to, excuse me, fart (now illegal in Afghanistan) and couldn't concentrate on the facts of history for a brief moment.
Did Lincoln quit when the Germans attacked Pearl Harbor?
Bet she will not be mocked by the liberal press like Michele Bachman was
Lincoln signed THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION.
I blame the lady’s boo-boo on the public schools, although when THIS lady was in grammar school they still taught a little bit.
The concept I’m sure that she was aiming at was freedom for the slaves, and what popped out when she spoke was the Declaration of INDEPENDENCE.
Or....Dan Quail for misspelling “potato”!
And....Do you remember the time Obama **repeatedly** said, “corpsemen”?
