GILBOA, N.Y. (AP) - Residents of Schoharie County downstream of the Blenheim-Gilboa Dam are being advised to move to higher ground because of the potential for flooding along the Schoharie Creek.
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection, which owns the dam as part of its upstate water supply, says warning sirens were triggered Sunday afternoon by rising water due to higher-than-predicted rainfall and the loss of electronic monitoring devices at the dam.

I am reading the town is being washed away. Some guy called fox begging for help he has been stuck in a hotel for hours with 21 people. Emergency Management came on TV and claimed the dam has crested this just after a type b emergency was declared.
Why wasn't this dam kept strong? Utter failure by Cuomo and that blind guy and Client number 9.
More to the point, Blenheim is 175 miles north of NYC. This is an example of tyranny of the majority by a minority. This is a reservoir dedicated to and owned by the NYC water department. A major portion of Delaware County, NY, is owned by NYC for the same purpose. Land use is controlled from a 100 mile distance by NYC at a loss on the tax rolls to the municipalities unfortunate to be in the sights of NYC, an 800 pound gorilla. sd
Now, consider the facts:
Gilboa dam is an EARTHEN DAM constructed long ago that could not pass current requirements for a dam of it's size.
I believe that it is classified as a CLASS D (which means it has already been breached) long ago. At least three-four years ago. The CITY has been using this dam ON THE CHEAP by refusing to deal with the potential breach of this old and very weak (considering the volume it holds back) and strengthen it.
In otherwords, money went into the POLITICIANS pockets, instead of DAMBUILDERS pockets.
Here is a good source of facts from the TESTIMONY given at a hearing about the dam back in 2008.
Here is the website of the citizens who were concerned about the safety of the dam.
You know the answer. It's about the money. It's always about the money.

Traveling home thru NYS most if not all roads were closed, what amazed me was the lack of information and lack of interest the troopers had in directions around these area’s. No detour signs, no information, no interest. NYC broadcasts where more interested in recieving phone calls about what you would have in your frig for the emergency rather than giving thousands of motorists the road closures and ways around them. Thousands of motorists wandering thru towns and villages aimlessly trying to find their way home, rediculous!
no doubt someone at fox news will be watching this and broadcasting for 2 days.
Just so you know, between Cuomo Sr. and Client #9, we had 12 years of Pataki.

My tale here.
(I couldn't fault the police though.)
