Bill Burton : Rick Perry 'dangerous,' potentially 'devastating' for America (Dem talking points)
Politico ^ | Aug.27, 2011 | ALEXANDER BURNS

Posted on 08/27/2011 10:36:52 AM PDT by Clairity

In his weekly memo for the pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA, former White House spokesman Bill Burton signals that the first wave of Democratic attacks against Rick Perry won't be about character, land deals, the HPV vaccine or any of the other early oppo hits on the Texas governor.

The early Priorities USA attack line against Perry is simpler: He's too extreme to be trusted with the White House.

Burton riffs on Perry's first few weeks on the campaign trail, as well as other episodes from the Texan's recent political history, to call his candidacy a "powerful statement on how far mainstream Republican ideology has strayed from mainstream Americans":

Worse than even Obama? Or would he be disastrous because the left would use him as an excuse for a full-scale insurrection, instead of the slow-motion one we’ve had under Clinton and Obama?

Don’t know much about Perry yet, but if Obama operatives are using the word extremist, that’s at least one positive indicator.

The Democrats called Ronald Reagan ‘extreme’ and ‘dangerous’. They called George W. Bush ‘extreme’, ‘dangerous’ and warned that he would ‘take away’ your Social Security. The Democrats call Sarah Palin ‘extreme’ and, all together now, ‘dangerous’, This guy warns that Rick Perry is ‘extreme’ and ‘dangerous’ and infers that Perry would ‘take away’ Social Security and Medicare. He smears the GOP by association as ‘extreme’ - the left’s word for anyone to the right of Obama. Same old Talking Points from the same old Democrat playbook. It won’t work, this time. Barack Hussein Obama is the president and he has shown America what ‘extreme’ and ‘dangerous’ really mean. Our economy is dying, our enemies are laughing at us and Obama plays golf.

Does the so-called “liberal left” even KNOW what an extremist is?

From external evidence, one would think they do not. There would have to be a view of human nature, and the artificial construct that is called the “United States of America”, totally at odds with what has been the accepted model for the last, oh, two hundred and twenty some years, since the Constitution forming the basis of government of this nation was written. What they have been proposing, a command economy, and ordering of specific classes of the governed and those who govern, with no regard for individual liberties or respect for constitutional limitations, has been already pretty extreme.

The ratchet turns not only to the left. Flick the little lever on the head, and it works the other way as well.

Often times when a candidate gets the nomination of their party they start rushing over to the other side of the political aisle in order to appear more moderate.

The problem with Rick Perry is that if he were to go any further to the left he would embarrass Dennis Kucinich.

What else can any representative voice for this Administration call any opposing candidate who advocates less spending, limited government, and debt reduction?

Burton most certainly believes the views of the Second President of the United States and author of our Declaration of Independence from an oppressive government, Thomas Jefferson, to be "extreme" also:

"To preserve [the] independence [of the people,] we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:39

"I deem [this one of] the essential principles of our government and consequently [one] which ought to shape its administration:... The honest payment of our debts and sacred preservation of the public faith." --Thomas Jefferson: 1st Inaugural, 1801. ME 3:322

"I sincerely believe... that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale." --Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, 1816. ME 15:23

"[With the decline of society] begins, indeed, the bellum omnium in omnia [war of all against all], which some philosophers observing to be so general in this world, have mistaken it for the natural, instead of the abusive state of man. And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:40

They definitely keep elevating him with their rhetoric. In fact, they seem downright obsessed with him.

I think they know he is probably their toughest challenger in the general, although I think any of our top tier candidates are couple of beating The One.

NObama has taken this country so far into the shallow waters & headed at full speed onto the rocks that it will take EXTREME efforts to bring it back to prosperity.
