The problem is, they got too overpriced and dont meet future needs.
B-2 is a better bomber, and B-52 was/is fine for other payloads.

Nobody seems to bother to ask why new planes cost so much. Why should an F-22 cost 200-400 million a copy (depending on how you count the beans) even if the capabilities are advanced?
Why do we not have any much less costly alternatives? (answer: they might actually cost less and be effective)
It is the greed of the Military Industrial Complex that makes them so expensive. They don’t really care about producing advanced aircraft for the defense of America - they care about getting bigger budgets - that’s it.

Agreed. I used to be in military electronics manufacturing, and the entire system is ridiculous. The paperwork and qualifications procedures for components that we KNOW how to make reliably are so long that by the time development is done the total system is little more than an expensive dinosaur. Most defense contractors make far more money on documentation than they do on what they are selling.
Meanwhile, try to find an enforceable guarantee with the product. 'It met spec, yes, but did it work?'

Believe me, I agree. I was at Lockheed when we won the original contract. It's a great airplane, exactly what the USAF wanted, even though the YF-23 was a good airplane too.

Would he be willing to use said F-22s in a declared war against Mexico? If we are not in a war with Mexico, then what can you call it when 30% of another country's populace moves into the country next door, and declares themselves to be the rightful owners in opposition to the outcome of one war of independence from their government and a second war fought against them by our federal government?
It's pointless for Perry to talk about national defense. He already surrendered to Mexico.

Good for Perry. After all,instead of cutting regulations from EPA, OSHA and getting rid of failed govt. agencies and other bureaucratic nonsense, the Obama-ites want to gut our national security. This naif in the WH and his Dem crew cannot defend us either domestically or internationally. This is another reason a Pub candidate with guts and wisdom in military affairs is needed to protect even the gutless Libs.
Drawings will have to be dusted off and supplier contracts renegotiated. But it can be done.
If Perry becomes President, and he still doesn't get the line restarted, then, in reality, he will not be able to blame anyone but himself. So, in a way, he is setting himself up for potential future criticism.

That's your opinion. I strongly disagree. I don't support the death penalty because there is no alternative, or even as a deterent. I support it for two reasons; first because there is no other just response for the deliblerate poaching of human life. For the murderer to be walking around and breathing, even incarcerated, is not justice. Secondly, it is needed because the vast majority believe it is just. Our whole criminal justice system is a mutual pact between citizens that we will forgo the personal taking of revenge (there is nothing wrong with just revenge), in exchange for allowing the state to carry out justice for us. Any time the people do not feel justice has been done it undermines the entire system, and pushes people to distrespect for the legal system. The eventual result is people will take matters into their own hands. If the vast majority was agaisnt captial punishment, as they are in some countries, that would be a compelling argument against it. But here most people support it.
