New Republican presidential frontrunner Rick Perry has in one shot managed to blast both the Obama and Bush administrations on national security policy. According to Perry, former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who ran the Pentagon during both the final years of George W. Bush and the first years of Barack Obama, gave Communist China an alarming long-term military advantage by cancelling purchases of the new F-22 fighter.
We made some huge errors in the course of the last three-to-five years from the standpoint of militarily not continuing to fund R&D with our military, Perry charged during an appearance on Laura Ingrahams talk radio program on Thursday. For instance, we had a next-generation fighter aircraft that was on the books to be developed. And the then-secretary of Defense through, I suppose, direction by this president, Obama said, you know, were gonna cut back. And thats gonna be one of the cutbacks.

It’s called priorities and balancing the budget.

“From the center of a Houston hardware store, Gov. Rick Perry ignited a debate about Texas job cuts, business taxes and President Barack Obamas so-called economic stimulus program Thursday by rejecting the federal governments offer of $555 million in aid to the unemployed.
The action now moves to the Legislature, which can bypass Perry and take the offer as long as it changes state laws and blocks Republican Perrys potential veto. Democratic lawmakers said Thursday they will try.”

First, the F22 is stealth. If you don't know where it is, your missile can't shoot it down. In any case ABM systems are designed to shoot down high altitude incoming missles, not cover every square mile of territory in low altitude tactical combat.
As far as the spending, the F22 is a drop in the federal budget bucket. You could easily build the F22 and cut 100 times that much from overall spending. By your logic, anyone in favor of building a border fence thinks Bush (and Obama) didn't spend enough.
Yep. Org.whodat needs to go scream at the current administration for taking Arizona to court to prove it’s the Federal Government’s job to enforce the national borders...oooops DAMN!
Bull, Perry and his neck ring crown will be walking back this stupid statement within 24 hours, but he will now carry the more, more, spending just like in Texas. The not ready for prime time Perry has stepped in it large.
Yes I do live in TX. and work with Hispanic activists in fighting illegal immigration. Ms. Martinez here in TX. was the state leader in fighting the business interests that fought against enforcement bills and had funded the GOP so that Perry was allowed to garner money for his political career.Ms. Martinez was calling activists to appear before the State Affairs committee to push through E-Verify and sanctuary city bills. Mr. Hernandez formed Texans for ZERO Immigration here in Houston. The name of the umbrella group is called IRCOT. Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas.
Bull, Perry and his neck ring crowd will be walking back this stupid statement within 24 hours, but he will now carry the more, more, spending just like in Texas. The not ready for prime time Perry has stepped in it large.
I”m starting to like Perry a lot.
How about we demand reciprocal (two-way) trade with China, and bill China for their past predatory trade.
14 trillion ought to be a good start.
Additional bills to follow.
Well, we certainly can’t spend more money on defense simply to make sure China doesn’t beat us in the next air superiority battle now, can we. It’s much more important to cut spending than to defend our country.
Yes, a move by the administration Perry agreed with.
There are many good things about Rick Perry...
In 2009, Gov. Rick Perry received the Defender of Jerusalem Award, given to public figures who have demonstrated support and commitment to the state of Israel and its capitol, Jerusalem. The governor accepted the award while on his trip to Israel, where he also met with Israeli President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and business and academic leaders.
During that trip, Perry gave an interview to the Jerusalem Post in which he affirmed his support for Israel, Im a big believer that this country was given to the people of Israel a long time ago, by God, and thats ordained.

You may want to consider the following for your list.....
In January 2001, Perry proposed the Trans-Texas Corridor, a $145+ billion-dollar project that would build multi-lane highways, rail lines and data lines from Oklahoma to Mexico, and from east to west in southern Texas.
Instead of paying for the project with taxes, Perry proposed that it be partially financed, partially built and wholly operated by private contractors who, in exchange for a multi-billion dollar investment, would receive all toll proceeds, notably Cintra, a Spanish-owned company.
One of the more controversial aspects of the project was extensive use of eminent domain to acquire property. Opponents portrayed the proposal as a "land grab", and criticized Perry for opposing the public release of the actual terms of the 50-year deal with Cintra to the public for fear they would chill the possibility of the company's investment.
Perry's former liaison to the legislature, former State Senator Dan Shelly, returned to his consulting/lobbying work with Cintra after securing the TTC deal while on the state payroll.
All of Perry's gubernatorial opponents opposed the corridor project, as did the 2006 state party platforms of both the Democratic and Republicans parties.
In 1960 it was less than 15% "hispanic", whatever that is (they're um, Mexicans - it's a real country and people, just ask them).
As far as it being Mexico, if you think that's an excuse for invasion and takeover, we have a word for that. Starts with a T, and it ain't Tejas.
Long live Lyndon Baines, huh sport?
