I fear that the POS Imelt will somehow provide the chins with the F-136 engine.

Thanks Shield, listening now as I missed it earlier this week. He’s giving a really good interview. Liked his comments on the TX education system and loved his “Washington is a seedy place” quote.

You can twist stuff all day but the fact is Texas is 38% hispanic and this place was once Mexico.

Perry acknowledging that constituency does not make him open borders.

And the truth is, it is the federal Governments job to control borders.
Why should Texans bear the tax burden of controlling 1250 mi of border?

I concur that our military and it's capabilities (not to mention material and personnel) is wasted more often than not by the self-anointed demagogues in Washington DC. Too many conflicts we have become embroiled in for over a half a century now have been half-witted and worthless 'nation building' exercises in countries whose populations, brainwashed for generations, would like to see us all dead as a thank-you.

That said, I wonder about Perry's recent finding religion, as it were. I just read today that he just had Texas send the fedgov a $350 million invoice for services rendered to illegals. What do you make of that?

In the end, however, I would much rather see us spend $100 billion on new jet fighters than feeding more generations of mud-people who will only breed more of the same.

The alternate to this head line, “Perry says bush and gates did not spend enough money and calls for more spending.”

Defense is one of a narrow set of legitimate roles of government in order to protect our inalienable rights to life and liberty. Perry would get the money from cutting pork:

Government auditors spent the past five years examining all federal programs and found that 22 percent of them—costing taxpayers a total of $123 billion annually—fail to show any positive impact on the populations they serve.

• Washington spends $25 billion annually maintaining unused or vacant federal properties.

• Washington will spend $615,175 on an archive honoring the Grateful Dead.

• Each month, taxpayers provide $40,000 worth of office space, cell phones, staff, and an SUV for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, who currently works as a lobbyist for private corporations and foreign governments.

• More than $326 million in pork will go to the 1.3 million citizens of Hawaii—a per capita rate of $251.78. On the other hand, the 544,270 fine people of Wyoming will receive only $12.28 per person. Take a guess which state has a senator who is chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and which state has nary a member on the committee.

• The refusal of many federal employees to fly coach costs taxpayers $146 million annually in flight upgrades.

• The state of Washington sent $1 food-stamp checks to 250,000 households in order to raise state caseload figures and trigger $43 million in additional federal funds.

• Lawmakers diverted $13 million from Hurricane Katrina relief spending to build a museum celebrating the Army Corps of Engineers—the agency partially responsible for the failed levees that flooded New Orleans.

• The Defense Department wasted $100 million on unused airline tickets and never bothered collect refunds even though the tickets were refundable.

Perry, Rick; Newt Gingrich (2010-11-15). Fed Up!: Our Fight to Save America from Washington (pp. 65-66). Little, Brown and Company. Kindle Windows Edition.

And just wait 'till you read the part where he talks about the spending of the Republicans in the middle of last decade!

The invoice is piss poor political theater, boob bate for the fools that believe it and repeat it. His comments about the law in Arizona is the truth.

ALternate headline if you are an idiot or a liar. Just because he wants us to have air supremacy (which you seem to be against), doesn’t mean he wants more spending overall.

None of which has one damn thing to do with calling for more spending. Which would have been the end game of more F22:

Perry is a veteran Air Force pilot who gave five years of his life in the service of his country.

Bull, how do you have air superiority over countries that has missiles that can shoot down missiles. Now tell me how you can say I would have spent more money on planes, but not have spent more money. Now that is idiot talk on Perry's part. We did have the military a little busy at the same time.
