Perryphobia
Politico ^ | August 26th, 2011 | CURT ANDERSON

Posted on 08/27/2011 6:58:43 AM PDT by shield

A wave of fear has come over Washington — and it’s not the earthquake or the hurricane. Self-appointed Republican elites, fretting Hill Republicans and left-wing carnival barkers all have one thing in common: Perryphobia.

It’s an acute condition, with different manifestations. But it has the same root cause – arrogance toward Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Let’s get this straight — with Congress being as popular as cholera, they think they are going to hurt Perry’s chances by dissing him? Really? Congress is at an all-time low, according to a new Gallup poll, with only 13 percent of Americans approving of “the way Congress is handling its job.”

The fact is that a candidate seeking support from actual humans who vote would be smart to distance him or herself from Congress — and cholera.

Anyway, the arrogance of the left is easy to prove. And it is even easier to prove that they are in full-out Perryphobia. A random sampling of left-wing oracles this week produces these gems: Ed Shultz calls him a racist; Rachael Maddow says he wants to “lynch” Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and Chris Matthews insists that “he looks like a clown.”

Now for Hill Republicans, whoever they are. A Politico story, “Rick Perry’s loose lips worry Hill Republicans” put Perryphobia on full display.

Let’s start with the left, because that’s easy. Liberals — roughly 20 percent of America, fortunately — are generally very willing to tell you that they know more than you do. If you don’t believe that, try a field experiment today and you will see.

But liberals don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk...........

>>HooRay for the Tea Party and Rick Perry.

Perry can drink as much Tea as he wants. Riding those coat-tails won’t change the fact that his REAL political trail has big puddles of RINO pi$$ from start to finish.

Maybe Mistah Rick should’a invested in (D)epends instead of all that Grecian Formula.

Perry looked into the camera and lied to the people of Texas about his intentions. Now he is running for president on their dime. Meanwhile Mrs. Perry is living large a little while longer.

When the Clinton's behaved like this we called them grifters.

One thing that baffles me about characters like you is that you insinuate yourself into conversations where you’re obviously unwelcome.

All you’ll get for your trouble is dislike and disrespect, and even ridicule. No one will see things your way, you’re too hyperbolic and offensive.

Why inflict yourself with such negative feedback? Does it give you pleasure? Honestly, I’m serious, why do it, do you enjoy torturing yourself? Is self-flagellation your thing?

No one has fear of Perry, just abhorrence of his socialist tendencies as governor.

You forgot Pataki and Giuliani. Pataki has said no--I don't know about Rudy, I haven't heard the final word on him yet. The Beltway Republicans are desperate to stop a conservative from winning the nomination. Remember, they live their entire lives in fear; they're afraid of the press and what they might say, they're afraid of being seen as "unsophisticated" which is why they were so uncomfortable with Bush and so accommodating of Obama ("at last we have someone who speaks properly" as long as he has a teleprompter handy) , and they fear "the great unwashed masses" who live in fly-over America (in fact they hold us in great disdain).

The fact that another not educated in an ivy-league school candidate might become the next President mortifies them far more than any avowed Marxist might do so.

They are, in general, a pathetic lot.

You can’t handle the truth.

Your tagline suggests projection on your part. Handle that.

The Mexican govt and La Raza are sending hordes of illegals to defend Rick.

Heck, Senor Perrynista might even get another monogrammed serape (/snix).

Senor El Perrynista receives a serape from Mexican Gov Enrique Martinez
of Coahuila, as a token of appreciation for enacting the Texican Dream Act.

"Captain Gardasil" addresses La Raza.

"Come on down. You get one in the rear and in-state tuition at any Texas college."

Perry = prosperity, Obama = austerity

It really is just that simple. As Dame Thatcher said in similar circumstances, there is no alternative.

You're either for one or the other; stated differently in this parlous time, if you're against one, you must be for the other.

I have RINOphobia.

I fear what they are doing to our free republic.

But if folks think our country can survive much more squishy, unprincipled Republicanism they have a mental malady much more severe than that.

Good luck with that....back to basics...

A RINO (Republican in Name Only), describes politicians who claim to be Republican but are in fact liberal, and therefore generally debase the winning conservative coalition base of the Republican Party. The term is used to characterize an officeholder or candidate who is a member of the Republican Party, but holds views outside the mainstream Republican Party such as support for raising taxes, abortion as a right, gay rights and gun control.

“I don’t trust him. “

I’m with you! Perry seems like the Texas edition of Mitt Romney. I thought we wanted to run a conservative this election, not another RINO...

Well, you can define it how you want.

I define it as a Republican who doesn't strictly adhere to the first principles of the republic.

Which is most of them now.

We get it. You hate Perry. How about telling us something positive about the candidate you like.

It's not my description it is conservapedia.com. Conservative encyclopedia on the net....

I define it as a Republican who doesn't strictly adhere to the first principles of the republic.

That is not the right designation...need to find a better one than RINO...must fit the whole spectrum of politicians.

Don’t forget the actual Bill that the Governor is signing, here has nothing to do with more recent ACORN offenses.

This was in 2007, and the new law prevented arbitrary and irreversible foreclosure on homes.
