(Ron) Paul: No such thing as an independent Israel (Iran's State TV- Press TV Interview)
Iran's Press TV ^ | 12/2008 | Jihan Hafiz

Posted on 08/26/2011 10:10:01 PM PDT by mnehring

Ron Paul, House representative of the 14th district of Texas, believes that US foreign policy must be reformed to avoid conflicts around the world.

The interview was conducted outside the Foreign Relations Committee.

Press TV: What is your opinion on the idea of the US blocking Iran's oil exports and preventing its gasoline imports from reaching the country (based on H. Con. Res. 362 previously sought by US congressmen)?

Paul: I think it is an outrage I think it is a blockade. It is the use of force to stop the inflow of petroleum products and people and goods, banking, trains, cars, trucks, cargos. It's all prohibited. How can we stop that without the use of the navy and without the use of force? This idea is not a blockade it is just pure silliness on their part [US senators and congressmen].

If we bomb them, that's the start of hostilities. They (US policy makers) are never willing to take anything off the table, which includes a nuclear-first strike. So, if they do that do you think the Iranians are going to sit still? They are going to react!

The opposition said that, well, we don't want them to block the Strait of Hormuz [the Persian Gulf waterway which allows the passages of a third of the world's daily oil supply]. They ought to change their policy because they are more likely to get the Strait of Hormuz blocked if we persist on this. If we do any bombing or we put on a blockade, it's going to lead to big trouble.

Press TV: There has been a lot of speculation that Israel may act on its own and conduct an independent air strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Do you think that's possible?

Paul: I don't think there is such a thing as an independent Israel doing anything, because I think no matter what they do its our money, its our weapons, and their not going to do it without us approving it and if they get into trouble we're going to bail them out, so there is no separation between the two.

Press TV: During your line of questioning at the Foreign Relations Committee you mentioned the Seymour Hersh article, which was among the articles that revealed that the Congress had awarded the Bush administration hundreds of millions of dollars for a covert operation to overthrow the Iranian government. Why did you mention those stories?

Paul: Well it's something that I have known about and heard about and it does go on. It goes on all around the world. To me it was a surprise that it was news, because we have been doing that and people do talk about it. I think it's an outrage. How would we react if somebody did it to us? We would be infuriated, willing to go to war. The fact that somebody came and tried to undermine our government.

He had one major endearing quality and it seems to be horse $hit. Jack and squat should sue. Ron Paul has no defense.

The last paragraph is very interesting and borders on treason. Basically, Ron Paul confirms secret clandestine operations to an agency of the Iranian government. He is a government official confirming knowledge of clandestine activities accused of by the press.

Ron Paul demonstrates once again why he is not a serious candidate for the presidency.

Yet he revels in his role as a distraction.

A dangerous distraction...

It's too bad, really. There's a lot that I really, really like about libertarianism. Smaller government. Hands off economics. Live and let live. I love it. Big fan.

What I don't understand is why capital (L) libertarians seem to go insane once foreign policy is involved. And I could Ron Paul in that group. I just don't get it. There's certainly an argument to be made for a reduced U.S. presence in the world, getting rid of foreign aid boondoogles, etc.

But getting on Iranian TV to complain about the Joooos? Really? Really?

This man is a total ass.

Israel is very powerful all on its own. The weapons they possess belong to them and not the US. Their nuclear capabilities are of their own design and manufacture. In fact it was mainly a bunch of Jews who gave the US nuclear capability in the 40’s so we could end WW2 with unconditional surrender of the enemy.

US aid to Israel over the years and military support have kept Israel from the necessity of utterly destroying their enemies with overwhelming force. Is this a good thing? I’m uncertain.... wars must be won to be brought to an end.

Had we handled Japan as the world seems to think Israel must handle their foes then we would still be at war with them.

Which is a most odd thing to say considering that Arabs are ALSO Semites & that Paul is not even against the existence of Israel & presuming that everyone in Israel is a Semite. Let’s not attack the only true conservative in the race over petty foreign based politics. Paul would implement policies that would reverse the demise & bankrupting of America - he is not running to be the President of a foreign nation.

Oh good grief, first, true Conservative is a laugh. He is a moderate libertarian at best. Second, regarding financial issues, I guess you forgot the Constitution- all bills of taxation, revenue, and spending originate in Congress- where Paul is already that, and other than flap his gums, he has been a failure at that. He is in what should be the best position for him now, chairman of the monetary policy committee and he has done jack and squat in that role....

President of the United States primary role is Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces. This also includes negotiating treaties with other nations, something Paul is against yet the Constitution puts in high regard and says should be considered ‘high law of the land’.

So basically, what he proclaims to be his main goal he should be accomplishing now- he isn’t. He instead wants to move into the role that is his weakest on policy.

The man is to the Constitution what Fred Phelps is to the Bible.

Nice word mincing. I'll play.

Ron Paul is an anti-Zionist. The Zionist Entity is our ally. Their form of government is most like ours, and represents the best hope for the world in general, and the Middle East in specific. Abandoning them to 8th century theocrats and local tinhorn dictators is not in our best long term interest, even if it would defuse some short term regional problems.

We do need libertarian domestic politics to reverse the bankrupting of America, but we should not abandon our fellow outposts of civilization out of naked expediency. We've already erred too far in our global reach. We don't need to compensate by going equally overboard in global retreat.

Of great historical use is Jeffrey Lords’ recent article in the American Spectator, identifying paleoPaulie’s idjit foreign policy ravings as rooted among anti-Semites, pacifists and isolationists of BOTH parties, such as Burton Wheeler, William Borah, Robert LaFollette, Sr. and Jr. and the rest of their ilk. Paul is a fraud and a looney tune libertoonian, as well. He is most certainly NOT a conservative as that term is normally applied. IT is no accident that he is buddies with Alex Jones and the Trufers.
