I saw him Tuesday night. I saw Senator Marco Rubio in person as he delivered a speech at the Ronald Reagan Library outside of Los Angeles. I saw Marco Rubio catch Nancy Reagan as she stumbled. And I saw Marco Rubio offering coy answers to the question everyone in the press was there to see him answer: would you want to be vice president?
...Rubio is known as a Tea-Party candidate, or semi-Tea-Party candidate, but he didn't throw any rhetorical bombs Tuesday. That alone made him sort of agreeable. There were moments when he dared to offer a gram of risky honesty and an ounce of real ideas.
On the honesty part, for example, he admitted, obliquely, that George W. Bush had raided the nation's piggy bank and subsequently beaten the piggy to death. "I know that it's popular in my party to blame the president, the current president," Rubio said. "But the truth is that the only thing this president has done is accelerate policies that were already in place, and were doomed to fail."

Enjoy.
Like I give a ***** what NPR (Commie Radio) thinks.
Rubio is going to be president one day. The NPR might want to do one on “The Reasonable DemocRAT”. Unfortunately, there aren’t any.
Well, that gives me second thoughts. I think conservatives should be wary of most of these politicians, including Rick Perry.
Speaking the truth will not dim anyone’s luster. And no politician is going to please us 100% of the time. We’ve got to stop with idolatry of politicians! They are not saviors & they are not infallible.
As I recall, Senator, back in those days the Congress still wrote the budget.
Did you listen to Rubio’s speech at the Reagan Library?
It was a lot of rambling, semi-rhetoric and posturing that did not clarify his convictions, if he has them. I don’t know.
I was excited about him just before and after his election, but that was before he started stumbling. Sorry, I have to be honest. First, he opined on Meet the Press that he opposed Ryan’s budget plan when it was new. Later, he got on board with it.
Among other things, along with McCain/Graham/Lieberman, he validated the Libyan rebels as the legitimate government of Libya last month.
Honestly, I think he is not as bright as has been assumed.
Where were you a day or so ago when the text of Rubio’s speech was posted here on FR? It got 6 or 7 replies at best and a few of those were doubtful also.
Seriously? Rubio has been spot on for going on two years now. I have seen a constant series of huge praise for his speech this week at the Reagan library, but you pull up some ridiculous NPR article and use to opportunity bash him.
In what capacity? I believe he held an office in state government?
He was Speaker of the House in the Florida legislature.
Marco Rubio
born May 28, 1971 in Miami, FL (Meets the Jus Soli Requirement)
Parents were
Mario Rubio born in Cuba, naturalized Nov. 5, 1975.
Oria Garcia born in Cuba, naturalized Nov. 5, 1975.
Parents were NOT US Citizens at the time of his birth (Does NOT meet the Jus Sanguinis Requirement)
Marco Rubio is NOT a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.
Morco's status is the same as that of Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein Obama, who is NOT a Natural Born Citizen.
Then I guess we can't blame Obama for the deficits of the last few years either.
NPR will hardly have a dimming effect on anybody. Everyone, including its listeners know they lean lib. What little I’ve seen of Rubio has been impressive, he speaks well, and although he’s imperfect as all candidates seem to be, he appears to be centrally conservative which is a good thing in the mostly liberal senate.
When was the last time they passed an actual budget? ‘09?
Well that pesky old paper writer by those rotten old white men says not. But then who gives a damn about what the constitution says.
Sorry. Didn’t know he was ineligible. Guess I should have done my homework. But then again, the Constitution didn’t stop the Kenyan...
Notice the prejudice in the title, “The Reasonable Republican”, from taxpayer-funded NPR and it worries me greatly that he would win praise from NPR-makes me think he must be really bad. I hope not.
Yes. A nearly universal truth is that we work hard to elect our guys and when they get to Washington they aren't our guys anymore.
