6. Looting in certain parts of the city.
7. Police confiscating guns from law abiding citizens.
8. Blaming President George W. Bush.
9. Accusing George W. Bush of racism.
“Debris Everywhere”
How would you know?
I'm just spiteful enough to wish another raw sewage wave to wash over all of Martha's Vineyard.
I don’t think they’re serious. That would be very unChristian, and I would be severely disappointed if it were true. Nobody cares about my disappointment, but I bet they care about Jesus’.
Take heart—we’re praying for the safety of Americans everywhere (especially our military.)
Better yet, leave.
Well, it’ll be moving north at 25 mph when it passes. I don’t think that poses a great danger for a storm surge. Besides, Obama’s in the WH and he promised the waters would recede.
What? People in the city don’t have cars.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
I’m praying for the safety of Americans, but I, too, remember the indifference re: Nashville. Directing money and resources is one matter; prayers are another.

If not leaving the city, stock up on water. Loss of power will mean loss of water. City backup generators at pumping stations may not survive storm surge.
In research at Texas A&M it was learned that a very major damage producer is wind blown roofing gravel. Made of slag and light it just blows away and when hurled by 100 +mph winds is a killer of a nearby all glass curtain wall.
New York has acres and acres of gravel roofs and even more acres of curtain walls.
( Should I? Well yes..... Texas A&M was where Gov Perry went to school)
11. Buy toilet paper
12. Buy propane for your grill
13. Buy ammo
I am very concerned about this storm.
My 96 year old aunt, a life-long 2nd gen New Yorker, said, recently, NYC was in for a serious hurricane hit. It was an interesting comment, for whatever it was worth.
Anyway, why not? NYC is essentially a coastal city.
As such, it is an island, also, a series of islands, peninsulas and rivers. Evacuation would/will be a nightmare with nothing but tunnels and bridges.
The predictions for Irene’s path are, as I understand, very close to one another, and they have not changed much over the past few days.
In New York City, many would need to buy a gun first.
“More deficit spending!”
Paul Krugman is probably peeing in his pants from giddiness...
“The New York State Thruway’s closed, man.”
What a disaster that would be. Let us hope and pray that it is spared.
Nothing but bridges and tunnels.
New York IS exceptionally good at managing traffic, IMO, ironically, but still . . .
