Warren Buffett will host a fundraiser for President Obama next month in New York City, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO told CNNMoney on Thursday.
With the 2012 election season just around the corner, the campaign to put Obama back in the White House for a second term is well underway -- and it's not unusual for the campaign to boost the president's drawing power by allowing him to share the stage with a well known benefactor.
Billed as an "Economic Forum Dinner with Warren Buffett," the fundraiser will be held at the Four Seasons restaurant in New York and moderated by former Obama economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, according to a schedule obtained by Politico.
The event will bring in a pretty penny for the campaign. The base price is $10,000, while a $35,800 donation will buy a VIP reception with Buffett, according to the schedule.

I guess BO only hates billionaires who don’t throw millions into his campaign war chest. Old Warren won’t ever have to worry as long as he keeps paying protection money.
I’m waiting to hear he’s cut a check to the IRS for $xMillion to cover his share of what he feels he owes beyond his filed taxes. I mean, he feels millionaires should be paying more...
They should donate all that money to the US Treasury.
Anyone who can afford to pay $10,000 or more for a dinner with Obama is obviously not paying their fair share in taxes.
Buffett getting real tight with the Kenyan.
Warren plays the game differently than Bernie Madoff, but there seems to be some chance that Warren might end up in the cell next door, one way or another.
Obama’s high profile fund raiser is going to be a buffet?
Warren, or Jimmy ?
All-You-Can-Eat.
Most of old Warren’s money is protected, in trusts
All-you-can-stomach.
Buffett has sadly become a pathetic sock puppet for BO.
“Surprise!”
Then he’s a hypocrite for saying the rich should be paying more. Anyone who says this should be willing, and able, to make up-front payments to the IRS in lieu of the tax code being changed to reflect a higher tax rate for the wealthy. If they won’t, or can’t because of how their investments are structured, then they should shut up. Either put their money where their mouth is, or shut up.
And no, I’m not advocating a change to the tax code (unless it’s to lower the tax rates or restructure it to a flat tax). I’m simply responding to these wealthy idiots who won’t follow through on their blabber.
Something tells me that Buffett knows that his is in trouble. How? I’m not sure. But perhaps he thinks bankrolling Obama for a second term, if successful, would keep investigators from his door (unless the Repubs take the Senate, which is likely).
Who was it that said any stupid sonofabitch can make money; you just have to work hard at it.
I hate that I share the same intials with Worried Buffoon.
It's all legal. But Buffett's got large reasons to be sucking up to obama.
Buffet is a hypocrite. I have no respect for him.
