My uncle has a home on the Outer Banks in the Kill Devil Hills area. His daughter (my cousin) lives in Suffolk, VA. I'm hoping he has evacuated from the house in NC and moved to my cousin's place.

It’s the best hotel within easy reach of ATL-Hartsfield.

As the canyon of skyscrapers kinda make the wind velocity dramatically increase on the streets, look for alot of blown out windows downtown. Mondays commute could be very dangerous.

Subways will be stored above ground, probably tunnels flooded, sewer manhole covers blown out on the streets.
And I’m sure that all aircraft will be removed from Reagon, Dulles, Baltimore, Philly, Newark, JFK, Laguardia, Teterboro, Stewart, Hartford, Providence, so next week will be a total travel clusterf*** zoo

Most hurricanes here are a non event - downed trees, power lines, etc. New York City is vulnerable, if and only if a Cat 4 or better storm surge moves in exactly between Rockaway Point and Sandy Hook. This puts a "cork in the drain" and New York Harbor, upper and lower, back up up into Newark Bay, the Lower Hudson the East River and Jamaica Bay.

The area where the Herbet C Bonner Bridge is located is the result of a "Modification" when a Hurricane cut the island in two in 1846 then "Isabel" cut Hatteras Island in two in 2003.

When Hurricane Ike hit downtown Houston, all the windows on the windward side of hotels and office buildings were blown out. Houston is 65 miles from the Gulf. It’s amazing what the wind will do.

I'm glad I live where there are no hurricanes, earthquakes, mudslides and almost no tornadoes. I will shovel snow as a trade-off for that any day. :-))

Question: what's the range between hig and low tides in NY harbor..upper and lower..if the surge hits at high tide...using your "cork in a bottle" analogy..it's MUCH worse, corect?
