Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in danger of losing his 2012 Republican primary front-runner status, Wednesday tweaked his position on global climate change, saying he does not know if humans are the primary cause.
Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, also said he would not place restrictions on carbon emissions if elected and did not favor spending heavily on climate solutions.
He was asked about global warming at a town hall meeting in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and said he believed the world is getting hotter and humans contribute in some way to the change.
"Do I think the world's getting hotter? Yeah, I don't know that but I think that it is," he said. "I don't know if it's mostly caused by humans.
"What I'm not willing to do is spend trillions of dollars on something I don't know the answer to."
In June, a day after launching his second bid for the White House, Romney caused a stir by saying he thought humans had contributed to climate change and that emissions of pollutants should be reduced.
A study by the National Academy of Sciences in 2010 found that "climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities and poses significant risks." That view is backed by most climate scientists. But surveys have shown that many Republicans do not agree -- especially those who are more likely to vote in the primary elections.
Two polls on Wednesday showed Romney, a narrow front-runner in the Republican field for much of the year, has lost the lead in the Republican nominating contest, trailing Rick Perry by double digits. The Texas governor recently jumped into the race.
Campaigning in New Hampshire last week, Perry, who is typically more of a social conservative, called climate change a "theory that still has not been proven"

And just like Galileo, who said that the earth was NOT the center of the universe (when 'most scientists' agreed that it was), we will convict you of blasphemy if you disagree and don't recant~!!
All you have to do is go back to the 2008 Iowa debate. The “Show of Hands” question.
Q. Show of hands. How many of you believe global climate change is a serious threat and caused by human activity?
Before Fred Thompson saved their butts, see who’s hands shot strait up. Yep, good ole Mitt. Then showing that he is a follower not a leader, watch what Mitt does when Fred says “I’m not doing hand shows”.

Great, something for Newt Gingrich to move even more leftward about.
If the Mitt doesn’t fit, he ought to quit.
This says all there is to say about so called climate scientist.Global warming was never anything but a political ploy to gain power for liberal politicians and research grants for liberal professors!!! grants
A lot of hot air coming out of Mitt’s mouth could be main source of AGW.
Straight out of my head through your fingers.
You read my mind.
Did he start reading real science?
So this is a flip. When will the flop come? Next interview maybe?
Mitt’s philosophical moorings are similar to those of his third cousin once removed, John Huntsman. Both are scions of very rich, influential fathers, without whom neither would have rippled the surface of the pond that is the American political scene. Both are eminently dispensable as presidential prospects.

Great post. Mitt Romney is a team player, not a leader, and that one incident proved it. That media ploy of asking for a “show of hands” stunt, portraying the candidates as schoolchildren being questioned by the teacher, was so transparent, yet it worked! Except on Thompson. It was hilarious!
But, bottom line, the article starts out “Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in danger of losing his 2012 Republican primary front-runner status,...” I think it should be obvious to everybody the Romney bid has failed. New Poll on TV this morning trumpeted: Perry new frontrunner at 29%, Romney down to 17%! this is understood by Romney himself, otherwise; he would never have made such a tin-ear move by going forward right now with the mansion tear-down project. Oh, he will stay in as long as the party machine needs him to stick around to complete its selection process, but it’s over for Romney himself.
ahhh, the focus group is a fickle master...
Those Mormon godlings sure flip flop all over the place.
