Petty Officer Jon T. Tumilson was laid to rest Friday in Rockford, Iowa, where an estimated 1,500 mourners came to pay respects for the fallen Navy SEAL, including his dog Hawkeye. In fact, Hakeyes loyalty to his owner at the funeral was visible, creating a heart-wrenching image as he laid down by the casket of his owner during the entire service:

My heart is breaking.
They say that dogs tell you a lot about their owners. That dog exalts his master even in death.
Is that not one of the most gut wrenching scenes you’ve ever looked at? If I start sobbing I just know I won’t be able to stop...can’t look anymore
I saw this earlier and it is a great pic. I was having a very hard time sourcing it, so thank you for posting with a good source.
Well, ...sniff, sniff.
If your wife is at the front door with her arms full of stuff and she is yelling for you to open the door, and your dog is at the back door barking to be let in, which one do you let in first?
The dog. It’ll shut up once you let it in....
OK, sorry for the hijack on such a heart breaking thread. Thank you to all who have given all.....
Tears were running down my face when I made that post.
My dog was a rescue. She was dumped out of a moving car, had mange and needed surgery. She is the best dog I have ever had.
Bfl
I found a little dog in a parking lot, filthy, covered with fleas in 100 degree heat. I could not leave her so I took her home. She was a Lhasa Apso and we shaved her cleaned her up and she became the love of our lives. My husband adored her. She was a gift from God.
She had many health problems and needed surgery to remove bladder stones. She died during surgery. I cried for two weeks and I have never seen my husband so sad. I have two new rescues, but I will never forget that little angel sent to us. I know I will see her again at the Rainbow Bridge.
They say these dogs are special—no truer words have been spoken.
They made a nice movie about him ... transplanted the story to America, for dramatic purposes. Good film, though.
Beyond heartbreaking ... tears and tears.
Rest well, brave warrior. Your work here is done; you gave all for love of country, duty, honor and your brothers in arms. All your loved ones and friends grieve your loss, and so does your incredibly heartbroken, loyal pooch.
Canteen ping.
What a terrible loss.
Amen.
Thanks Star.
I'm totally disgusted by those who kick our military personnel right in the teeth every time they express support for that @#!$% in the White Hut. There are 69 million of you (minus fraud and multiple votes) out there...you know who you are.
Amen Starwise. Truly heart-wrenching. May God comfort and grace these brave men’s families, friends, pets and even those of us who look on from afar with deep sadness and sorrow.
Look at those eyes, those smiles.
The best of us.
I will always believe they were betrayed.
I agree .. damn him ..!
There’s a special place in hell ...
