Arizona Sen. John McCain said the United States must lead the world in providing support to Libya as they begin their post-Gadhafi era.
"I think we would be well-served if we make sure that there is not an extremist takeover or hijacking of this revolution," McCain said.
McCain appeared on CNN's "The Situation Room", where he said an earlier and stronger showing of power by the U.S. in the air could have shortened the conflict significantly.
"The only thing that was holding [Gadhafi] in power was money and fear," McCain said. "Once those are dissipated by military strength, it is very difficult for anyone to be loyal to Gadhafi."

DC is stuck on stupid. They have overspent for so long, it is a way of life. The concept that the gravy train might come to an end is beyond their grasp. I wish McCain hadn’t just won another term. He has long outstayed his welcome. If enough TEA partiers win in ‘12, he will at least experience some discomfort.
McCain was on Greta tonight and he effectively said that the Libyan rebels have no connection(s) to Al Qaida. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

McCain said the same kind of things, unchallenged, on Fox just a little while ago (on the blonde with the botched plastic surgery’s show). By now he’s senile as well as being delusional.

The die is cast in Libya. No amount of US $$$ or involvement can change what is already taking place.
Iran and the Islamic Brotherhood will insure that the “new” Gov’t follows a strict interpretation of the Koran and Sharai’a Law. Elections, if they have them at all, will be a sham.
So much for the Islamic Spring and their “democracy” movement.
