3rd Parties...Destroyers of the Electoral Process
8-22-11 | Self

Posted on 08/22/2011 4:02:42 PM PDT by CincyRichieRich

I don't have cable, so I do watch PBS Newshour as it is less annoying than the other network water carriers...tonight, Elliott Ackerman, COO of "America Elects" was on...he had a Clinton talking head with him,and they both love the internet-based method of putting another candidate selected by all 50 states on the ballot in each state...hmmm...not sure if he's a liberal, that is Ackerman, but it sure sounds like a way to undermine the electoral process with the end goal being to elect the president by popular vote...hmmm...so big cities will be the only ones who elect them because they're smarter, right?

I don't like these efforts, not because I'm anti-technology...heck, I'm as high tech as it gets. I just like the foundations and infrastructure we have in place and I don't think internet based methods can rule out cheating and influence by folks like, Google and others...call me paranoid.

Haunting thoughts of Perot come to mind...of course, I do hope Nader gets in again...Hillary I hope stays out, but Obama may quit since it won't matter and Hillary is part of Soros' organization.

In our system 3rd parties do nothing but play spoiler.

This is one advantage of the "Alternative Vote" that Australia uses.

Hillary is part of Soros' organization.

Soros would be stupid to believe that.

Hillary is rogue. And if she doesn't get her way, everybody pays.

Dealing with Hillary requires courage that is largely missing. Other than boosting Obama, the white hat heros have left nothing but three years of skidmarks, while Hillary laughs.

What a world.

Lately, it appears collusion between our “two” parties is destroying our electoral process.

I say that whenever the Democrats are threatened with losing power like they are right now they predictably trot out changes to the Electoral College. I don’t see the prospect of 38 states effectively disenfranchising themselves so the idea of the Electoral College being abolished or modified is a dead issue.

Haunting thoughts of Perot come to mind

What about the NWO Globalist Liberal Republicans in 1989 who abandoned the Reagan Legacy from day one of Poppy's term? I didn't care for Perot but Bush policies were what caused that problem too start with. Ever time the GOP runs Liberals in the general election as it has since every election 2002 Third Party has addressed the issues the Rockefeller GOP chooses arrogantly to ignore and consider to be insignificant. Then they have the gall to say how dare you walk away from us?

Notice the GOP focuses not on how conservative someone is but rather how well they kiss the royal behind of the Liberal side of the GOP.

The GOP as a party ceased being conservative as a party right after the 1994 elections. The sellout to GOP Liberalism began under Newt, Dole, Lott, and hasn't stopped since. If the GOP wants Independent Conservative votes then it had best start delivering rather then blaming conservatives for it's failures.

The republican party was a 3rd party. Nobody talks about Whigs much any more though...

FYI, the only reason that we are in the situation we find ourselves is because there has not been a 3rd party challenge to the GOP. They have nothing to fear so they can continue to erode our freedoms and fill their pockets with cash and goodies since no one is posing a real threat to their game.

Every election cycle we go through this no 3rd party crap and it acts as a security blanket for the career politicians in the GOP. Each year is better than the next.

The GOP can’t be fixed. Many have tried in the past with no success. “Power corrupts and absolute power absolutely corrupts.” A no truer statement has ever been said.

Look at the “dog and pony show” that we just witnessed with the debt ceiling fiasco. The “Fix” was in long before the actual “dog and pony show” was over. They just had to make it look like a really good fight to show the sheeple that the GOP had some resemblance of a backbone. And it worked. Your post is proof of that.

The GOP has sat on the sidelines and watched our freedoms stripped away for many years while they were in power and while they were out of power. Each year worse than the preceding one. They ensured their tenure in government through the manipulation of the electoral system in the amounts of money it took to even run, thus leaving out many who actually could take their jobs, but for the lack of money from special interests, fell by the wayside.

We have a totally corrupt and broken system with the 2 party system and it’s time that a 3 party system is in place to break the tie....since the 2 parties simply take turns ruling the country with no thought of the individuals who are ruining our country could actually be out of a job.

What the hell? After this election cycle we may not have to even vote for it will be done for us. Freedom is doomed by the 2 party system and if things continue with this kind of belief, we have done it to ourselves and all future generations of political slaves we used to call our family.

Actually, that same situation (between dems and whigs) is what gave us a third party called the Republican party. One of the redundant two went away.

As happened then, the same thing needs to happen now.

You said it a lot better than I could. Good points and the truth of what is wrong. The Liberal Party must have a true conservative party too challange. Forget the DEM/GOP fight as they have become as one party which is simply dividing the political spoils of power between it’s established political families and foreign special interest.

What two parties are established by the Constitution? I haven’t seen any whigs lately. While it’s not likely that three parties can be competitive, the threat of a third party can help the two biggest parties be more inclusive.

Sure, why not...he’s been known to suck a few votes away from key Lib candidates by folks who drive hybrids or Smartcars.

I keep posting that if obama wins because of a third party, the blame lies directly with the GOP.

My biggest fear about the election is the GOP. Both parties are steering us toward socialism, it’s just that one party is driving a little faster than the other. With an epic failure like obama, this is the GOP’s chance to say “Anybody but obama!” and float us another RINO. I keep posting that I’d rather vote third party, thus assuring obama a second term, and fight the second American Revolution now. If we install a RINO for eight years, my children will have to fight that war. I’d rather do that for them.

Yep we do have a few perpetual candidates it seems. Nader, Paul, Keyes, etc. They all help the economy a tad I guess as they do spend a few dollars traveling, lodging, eating, etc.

People need to stop and look at just how far left the GOP has gone even since 1989 and the abandonment of Reagan policies. The GOP wins on running a Conservative Platform as the 1994 election showed and as Reagan's huge wins showed earlier conservatism can when if the leadership stays the course.

The GOP leadership in both the house and senate refuse to follow through. A GOP POTUS sitting on a two house GOP majority and doing absolutely nothing but the DEMs work for them also did us major damage. The GOP made Obama's policies possible by setting very dangerous precedents in Executive Powers among other things.

How much power would Obama have today had the GOP not been doing the DEMs work for them for the past 22 years? Ronald Reagan despite his faults was indeed the last Conservative leader able to get things done even while working against the other party. There simply is no excusing the GOP's leadership not fighting the good fight. If one man could do it and gain great victories then why couldn't a two house GOP majority with a GOP POTUS? Why? Because they became as one with the Liberals.

That is because in politics there is zero competition.

Who else are you going to vote for besides the GOP? Some Democrat?

The Republicans can basically ignore conservatives and do whatever they want with no fear of losing their jobs. There is no other party to challenge them.

3rd parties in America don't work because they only play spoiler to the Democrats & Republicans.

The Alternative Vote Explained This YouTube explains how the system used in Australia allows smaller parties to influence the process. I think this actually more of what the founders like Madison & Washington had in mind.

I'm on dial up and You Tube is about impossible. I think as I have been thinking for about the past 8 years or so the GOP is going to have too be Whigged and it will take a third party replacing it both in name and platform. With todays communication abilities it can be possible within an election cycle.

The nonsense of party loyalty must be replaced with the reality of a changed national direction via platform and policies in strong opposition to todays Liberalism. It's too late too save the GOP as it is too corrupt and OWNED by the same money that owns the DEMs.
